#5

round out the tentacles alot more claw them maybe excellent work keep at it!

#6

More work done.

#7

looking good keep it up, very nice =)

#8

Yeah, that’s the right idea, Cikala
Now just add more details like that - beef this sucka up a bit

#9

More detail, added spikes, etc.

#10

Aaah that is definitely looking better!

Now, what you need to do to give it a more natural look, is to make the spikes uneven - don’t have them all the same length and facing outwards at the same angles - this is a creature of the wild, so make it all uneven and wild and jagged!

Make some of the spikes much longer, make some of them bent, make one or two missing here and there.

Also, for the mouthpiece, perhaps you could add more teeth and stuff. Remember the saarlac in Return Of The Jedi? That giant worm thing with all the teeth in the desert that Jabba wanted to chuck Luke into? Well, perhaps you could do something like that for the mouth and gullet - rows and rows of tusk-like teeth, that would make him look very vicious indeed!

You also need mould those front teeth slightly, because it looks like those polys are under a bit of strain.

Keep going :buttrock:

#11

Hmm, cool. a worm…

Is it big? Or can go pass into my toilet? I hope not.

Can you give it some wrinkels, or do you wanna do that with shaders?

#12

added more stuff

#13

Cool, more details
Now, the same as I said earlier goes - just make these new spikes uneven, and more natural looking. Also, it is a bit odd the way the spikes just kinda pop out of the body - try moulding the areas below the spikes to form like bases for the spikes. That way you will create a more flowing organic look

#14

More random spike, smoothed a bit more

#15

and the uv map(done in Mayas UV editor)

#16

Please forgive my comment, but you’ve gotta be smoking something to want to use that for your UV map. Can someone out there help him out in MAYA to do a cylinder instead of an Atlas…

#17

Sorry, I really am not that good at UV mapping, just started using Maya last month.

#18

New map that looks alot better.

#19

Uh oh Cikala - you have waaaayyyy too many polys in your model

#20

Bah, lemme reduce them :stuck_out_tongue:

#21

That looks better

#22

That looks alot better. You can move those points around on the UV map with out affecting your actual model. I would compress the scale of the body by grabbing them all and reducing it, Then you could have more room to spread out the mouth area to get a decent image in there as well. As far as the arms see if you unwrap them and lay them flat. This is usually accomplished when UV mapping by unwelding all the poly’s before creating the UV map to allow modification of the UV map. When you are done you just reweld your model back together. You’ve got a good start going.

#23

Best UV map I ever made.
