Races of Middle Earth - Character - Beldor

#1

ok, this is what I came up with after abit of thinking. I happend too look at my miniature model of the Swamp Thing, and thought: “Hey, that just might work”. So I doodled down a quick sketch of my model and added some background. They live in the swamp and feed of anything that happens to wander around in there. Are at one with the swamp and can make plants grow out of them to ensnare their prey. I’ll try to come up with abit more detailed backround as I go along

Ok, finally got some time to start modeling. Got the basic shape of the head down and have started adding details. Still lots of stuff to be done but its a start  I dont know if I’m going for a huge character like in the drawing, or maybe abit smaller build and sneaky… :hmm: I’ll have to sleep on that one. anyhow, the picture:

Look good so far!
waiting to see more .

Thanks Gandalf

Small update and smoothed version. Need to work on the eyes, he is supposed to look mean and angry but now he just looks sad… like his swamp dried up or something :stuck_out_tongue: I will also add some more details to his mouth and som “wrinkles” here and there. Right now I’m only working on half of it, so most of the details will be added later, so its not all so symmetrical.

small update, started defining the size of the body… Think I’ll go for medium size and well defined muscles.

Hey Beldor…

I´ve got almost the same idea of of swamp creature.
(though mine is more of a fat gay… )

Yours is shaping up GOOD…:applause:

Thanks zued! I really like that skinny dude you are making

Yet another small update then. Things are going abit slow cause theres just way too much too do at school. Added some ears… would really like som feedback on if I should keep them, change them or loose them  Also some detalis here and there added.

#8

Thanks Beldor… likwise I should say…( like the way you´r doing with the details round the neck ):applause:

I think you should loose the ears… I can imagine that you going to add some wrinkles and stuff there anyway…
Maybe lower your eyebrows(meaner look), and go for a onecolor eye…( no pupil, just some white/grey/yellow color with some subsurface effect… /milkyeyes…)

Hi
Good concept, and nice sketch:applause:
Also model looks fine, but is one thing:
On sketch creature is more powerful and strong, I think taht You should enlarge whole torso (or diminish head).
But this is only my opinion;)

Generally good start
Greetz

Hi
I like the concept:thumbsup:  , good idea with those details around his neck.

I have a little crit about model, its proportions are a little bit off.

You can use human proportions as a reference, and than change
entire posture to make it more “monster like” by adjusting size of the muscles rather than changing limbs lenght.
It’s easier to add details such as muscle definition after your’e done with proporions.

Otherwise great!keep it up!

Thnx for all the feedback!

Yes, I’ve started too notice that the proportions are abit wrong. So I’m making the head abit smaller and the chest abit bigger as suggested. I’m also trying to find a way to make the ears work with the rest of the design. :wip: should have a little update by the end of the day

ok, another update.
haveing some troubles with the shoulders/armpit area… havent modeled that many characters before, and this is my first real go at muscles, so there is alot of testing  Abit more satisfied with the proportions now, the head might be abit big still, but I kinda like it that way. Critz and tips are welcome!
