Oh, those sunny old days when I was young and was doing my first steps in character modelling…

You did fairly good work in detailing and depicting muscles, but have skipped basic shape definition step. I’d suggest you work in the following direction:

  1. Hide or even delete the lower part of the body. I can see that it was the last step in your process and it was boring. You’re doing a character for fun, don’t torture yourself with parts that are not as fun as others. When time comes you will make some bad ass legs and will enjoy the process. For now save your time and enthusiasm and polish the upper part.
  2. As previously said, your character has lots of mid-level shapes (muscle groups, tendons, etc.), but lacks the basic ones. The 1st illustration depicts this problem. Your character appears blocky. His chest, waist, arms have pronounced “ridges”. This happens because it’s still hard for you to interpret shapes on the edges of orthographic views. Gather some references, try to understand how certain cross-sections should look (waist, chest, upper arm, elbow, lower arm) and fix 'em on your model.
  3. The problem is depicted on the 2nd illustration. It’s also related to interpreting shapes in orthographic view. We commonly see other people from the front so we subconsciously remember the proportions. But with the side view it’s another story. Your character is kinda flat. What you should do is offset some of his parts. Again, gather references (just google “man side anatomy”, works well enough), get the one you like and make some adjustments based on it. And don’t worry to overpush your model. It’s generally faster to overpush something and then lower it up a bit than to iteratively do lots of little pushes.

As a general advice: find some planar representations of a human body. These will help you get all basic shapes right.
Keep working and you will succeed. Good luck!
