quick 3d max question

#1

Hey all its bein a long time since i was here i had to stop modeling for over a year now and im just getting back into it.

Anyways i have a quick question, I decided to help out a friend on small project hes doing with modeling and he asked me if 3d max can export normal object files? he was saying i should use blender but honestly ive tried it and in my opinion it just just terriable compared to 3d max. I cant even get my details showing in a render which i never had trouble with in max:-(

If i really have to i will use it but i would really prefer to use 3d max if i can, thank you in advance for any answers and im hoping im in the right section as it does have to do with modeling in a way haha,

please move if im wrong though:-)

Normal object file = .obj? Yes.

#3

hmm i assume so, im not really sure myself thats why im asking haha

#4

Normal object file makes no sense but “object normals or mesh normals” is a valid term. If he’s talking about mesh normals then .obj should be able to export them.

#5

ah ok so if its an obj file then max or maya can export them ye?

#6

Yup Max and Maya. Fbx format is also a possibility and available in both packages.

awesome, thank you my good man, now i just need to relearn to model again haha
