Questions about applying for 2 jobs at the same company

#1

Hello,

I am a recent graduate and therefore sending out resumes to the places I want to work. There is a game company in my area I really really want to work for. They have a few openings in both their art department and their customer service department. Since I am new to 3d I feel that I am more qualified to work in their customer service department so I sent my application to the email they provided for that job. I would also like to apply for a art position in the company as an intern. I would say in my cover letter that I have already applied for a different position in the same company, but I dont know what is the right thing to do.

Is it unethical to apply for 2 different kinds of jobs in the same company? I dont want to undermine anyone or do something wrong. Should I wait some time before sending out a second application or is it okay to apply for 2 jobs at the same company at the same time?

The last thing I want to do is insult or anger the people in this company because I really like their work and wish to one day become part of their family, Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Make one submission.

Submit materials specific to each job you are applying for. This means for two positions:

Two reels.
Two resume’s
Two cover letters.

Also make one additional letter for the HR person who is going to be receiving your submission and (hopefully) passing the materials to the right people. This letter should state that you are applying for two positions and specifically state which reel/resume/letter is for each position so there is no possibility for confusion.

As long as you don’t appear to be attempting to hide the fact you’re also looking at other positions, there is nothing wrong with this practice. I wouldn’t go out-of-my-way to state that you are though either.

Thanks Mummey,

Cool so its okay to do this. I am trying to follow the ethics of applying for work, but I aas really stuck on that question. Thanks for the great advice man… the problem is that this place does not seem to have one central HR department but that each division does its own hiring. So if I send my resume to one it does not mean that another department might see it. Thank you so much for responding, I appreciate it.
