QMaster help!!!

#1

Hello mates, i’ve got a little(or not so little) problem:
I’ve been trying to render an After FX project using Apple Qmaster. I want to use 2 machines, both double-processor. I’ve set-up Qadministrator creating a cluster, assigned it to my local machine, and added both machines to this cluster. Everithing seems to be fine but when i submit a job from qmaster only 1 of 4 processors is used! :frowning:

I supposeed it must be related to problems in folder sharing(the folder where i was trying to put rendered files), so i changed folder permissions to allow everyone to write and read inside this folder…but nothing changed! :frowning: only 1 processor is used.

I’ve set up system preferences too, those relating Qmaster sharing, but noway to got it working!!!

Anybody can give me a helping hand? I would like to be able to use all machines here at the studio to launch both After FX and Shake renders.

Thanks very much in advance.

Here are some things to check:

How many rendering service instances are running per node?
To check goto System Preferences -> Apple Qmaster -> Services / Rendering -> Click on Options for selected service. This will bring down a sheet with the current number of instances setup (should be 1 instance per processor iirc).

Do all of your nodes have access to shared storage?
This part tripped me up for the longest time… All of the nodes need to have access to the same storage with all the same permissions. At the recommendation of people on the forums I ended up creating an NFS share point to share the data globally with read/write access. If any of the nodes are unable to access the media files, they should give an error so be sure to check your log files.

Good luck!
