Python?

#1

So today I just had the idea to try out Blender because I remembered a camp I went to awhile ago where I learned a bit about it. I downloaded it, saw something about Python and that I needed it, but for some reason didn’t even think about it. Well a few hours later I had finished watching a tutorial and I had my finished product from that tutorial, but it said I was unable to Render it because I didn’t have python. What is python and how do I make it so I can render?

With the built in renderer and normal blender functionality you do not need to install the full version of python. If you wish to, download from python.org. Note you will need to install the correct version of python for your version of blender. For 2.49b it is python 2.6x (the blender download page should tell you which)

A rudimentary version of Python is built-in to Blender. If you have also installed Python on your computer (and have installed an appropriate version, as noted above), then Blender will make use of what you have installed.

(Python is specifically designed so that it is capable of being used in this way, by applications such as Blender.)
