PROJECT PHOENIX ENTRY: ishizaka YOSHIKI

#1

If its not too late,Id like to share.

Concept:When the phoenix was born

“Chinese lantern plant” has small red berries enclosed in inflated papery orange-red seed cases.

From autumn to winter, seed cases turn pale and begin to wither. and it seems like net tights, however, berries themselves keep red and it make feel mysterious vitality.

I imagine when the phoenix was born(not revive from ashes). Here is phoenix egg.

Welcome in!

I like the colours, very moody. Can’t wait to see it develop.

Best of luck!

Hi Ian
Thanks for nice comment. I`ll do my best and try to finish my work by deadline.

Hi,Brian
Thanks for giving a splendid opportunity. Yes,4 minutes is enough to check in  ,but in fact I was so upset

Sorry, only Raytrace no GI(coment in template is wrong)

#9

very nice texturework. i like the aged one better, it reminds me of some pottery i have seen at my grandma’s.

#10

Hehe… I love the 15 second render time.

Looks great!

-Steve

#11

Nice!
I also prefer the aged one but we have some old portuguese pots and although the shine is duller, the blues are like new. The enamel has these littles cracks in it though (like an old painting)

I made phoenix baby with silo.First I tried to deform within EI,but couldn`t get shape what I want. After all I completed it with silo.

#13

Thanks. I also prefer aged one.

Yes,It`s one of most charms of EI

You are correct. my own old one is just what you say.

#14

Wow! Very nice lighting on the embryonic sack.

Tim

#15

Hi, Tim. Im glad you like it.And thanks for teaching me red spheres name.I didn`t know what it calls in English

#16

Hi, yoshiki
Your concept looks pretty nice and elegant. The old pot with some finer cracks will be beautiful… You did it in Modo? is very well done!. And the baby fenix is turning very nice, but -i think the embryonic sack needs to be more organic, not a perfect sphere, and with some irregular bumps on it, like a sort of membrane (you say is like an small red berrie).
Your image will be :applause: :applause:

Wow, Yoshiki, those are some very nice modeling and texturing. Glad you are doing so well with Silo. I’ve been trying to do some of my models in the program but am getting lots of crashes (partial subdivision is crashing everytime).

I agree that the embryonic sack should have a more organic shape to it, maybe with a sense of weight/gravity pulling the bottom of the sack out more than the top. The baby bird is Sweet! :applause:

I also agree that the older/aged pottery looks nicer. With mini cracks, it will be perfect. Keep it up!

Hi,Felix and Hi,Troy. Thanks for comments and useful advice.
I totally agree with you.Especially “aging” is one of my mainly concern. Now I am studying how to age naturally . I hope you like my final work.

Fortunately or unfortunately Silo`s Partial Subdivision IS NOT effective under my G5.Not crash but never “partial”,Subdivide whole thing:twisted: Instead " Refine Control Mesh then Redo" crashes 99% But totally Silo is simple and fun to use.

On the other hand Modo has particular manner ,so It seems to take time to get accustomed to.But no doubt it has great potential. modo`s interective tool is so attractive to me
