Problem with rig


I have a problem with a rig (3ddaves’ lw rig for motionbuilder).

I have eye bones which are originally parented to the main object. They are weighted and correctly rotate the characters eyes.

Then I parent the eyes to the head bone of the character (parent in place activate). They now no longer rotate the characters eyes, although looking in x-ray mode they are following the head bones rotation.

Any ideas?




Are your eyes on separate layers? Are you telling them to use bones from the layer which contains your skeleton?


That’s the thing. It’s all in the same layer. Nothing has visibly changed in the settings. It’s just that the eye bones no longer seem to affect the eyes.



Can you see the bone weighting on the eyes after parenting? Can you provide a sample scene? I’m at a loss for words… Never experienced that before.
