problem with repeating animation clip

i am working on a walk cycle (post your crits here please) and i have tried repeating the animation clip using the tools on the compose tab following joe cosman’s animating cd (which is awsome, by the way). the problem i am having is the feet seem to be advancing faster than the body and it gets worse the farther the clip advances.

I dunno excactly, but it could be that the first and the last frame of the cycle are not excactly the same.
With a relative offset, the “error tolerance” (the difference between first and last frame of the cycle) adds to every cycle.

the first and last frame of the cycle are not the same. i have made the walk cycle so the character actually moves along the ground plane as opposed to walking in place. how can i copy the first key frame to the last frame of the cycle while maintaining the correct position of the character in the world space?

you use factors block in the tracks tab.(select your instance channel) they are a multiplier for channel values. and they are very handy for re-aligning walk cycles. just use a factor on the foot Z-translate channel, and go to the end of your walk cycle, adjust the factor percentage till it looks right, and your cycle should be aligned.

this also works with rotations, since it looks like your feet are slowly rotating upwards.

if your clip is set to additive, you can also re-adjust it by setting another keyframe at the end of the walk cycle. the start key, and the end key are relative offsets from the original start position. bake back down to keys again, and you should have a near perfect walking clip.

ok, now i need to refine the walk cycle. he still doesnt have any weight, his neck and arms are not moving, his feet are slipping and rotating just a bit, etc. etc.
