previz: scenes 0-18

Just reserving the thread, i’ll hopefully start posting soon
[ul]
[li]Intro sequence/Titles/Credits - A series of beautifully composed images of the cubes in their environment. Animation of characters is minimal and they should just be “hanging out” doing nothing as to distract from the credits.[/li][li]After the credits end the camera fixes on a set of gray cube characters and our orange fellow walks into the scene from behind the others. He looks around a bit to see where he fits in the group as the others cast him a look behind his back (i.e. the cube at right might look him up and down as he’s turned away. When orange turns back the gray will snap his gaze away as if he wasn’t just checking orange out).[/li][li]Orange makes a move into the heart of the group and the others slowly back away from his position.[/li][li]There’s a little bit of a hesitant withdrawal before they all break out into a panic and run away from Orange.[/li][li]Orange POV as he looks at the others gathering together at the furthest most part of the room from him.[/li][li]Orange makes another attempt to be a part of the crowd and the others react in shock/terror. This stops Orange in his tracks.[/li][li]A bit shocked and surprised Orange looks on the others in bewilderment or a “WTF?” type of reaction.[/li][li]Realizing that he’s not wanted, he turns to sulk away from the crowd.[/li][li]Shuffles/drags feet as he mopes away to the other side of the room[/li][li](I added this extra gray one as comic relief in an otherwise downer scene.) The gray one is hanging out on the other side of the room kind of oblivious to what has happened thusfar. Seeing Orange shuffle into his area he is startled to find all of his other friends are huddled on the other side of the room. He (in a “oh crap!” sort of way) hurries off to meet with his friends.[/li][li]Orange finds a wall and begins to bang his head on the wall in frustration.[/li][li]On a down-stroke towards another head banging, he suddenly stops and bends back to look up at something that has caught his attention.[/li][/ul]

Focus on getting 11 - 18 done first. Maybe we’ll have each layout artist block out one or two panels for scenes 00-10. OK?

#3

ok, i wasn’t too sure about that so thanks

#4

i’ve finished 11-12 and i’'l post them soon, i’m moving onto the others now

I like how you changed the direction in scene 12 and added the turn at the end to redirect it for scene 13. Makes perfect sense this way. Good job.

Clip the first 2 seconds off of scene 11 though. We don’t need that camera movement. This should be a stationary camera shot.

You should also indicate some hop in the movements. I don’t want my animators to get the impression they can get away with refrigerator slides.

It’s looking really nice though. Keep up the good work.

ok, thanks kirt i changed 11 and 12 according to your suggestions and have added scenes 13-14

Ok, here’s the whole thing, hopefully there aren’t any big gripes cause i accidently didn’t save the new scenes:blush: . I can redo if its really necessary though. i’ll wait to get ok’ed by kirt before putting it in the finished files section.

You’re almost done

The beginning of scene 11 still has “refrigerator slide”. I’m sure the animators are aware that this is a “no-no” but I want the pre-vis to be very clear about the cubes’ movements.

Add a couple cubes that hop by from the backside of him on scene 13. Because in scene 12 there are cubes placed all around him and it’s a little distracting that they are all on one side of him in the next shot.

Shot 16 could be quicker with his reaction. Just clip about a second off of the beginning.

In scene 17 there is supposed to be the one ‘stray cube’ in the background that is caught off guard and hops away rather hurriedly. He’s also placed too close to the back wall for this shot to work.

Scene 18 should contain several head shots on the wall. He’s banging his head in frustration not coming to a rest on the wall.

Really nice work on the rest of the pacing though. A near perfect interpretation of my ideas without me having to do all of the work. Thanks!

Always back up your work.

thanks, ok, i think iv’e fixed everything up. i know there is an odd transition at 17/18 but hopefully it doesn’t matter too much. if i get a thumbs up from kirt i’ll put it in the finished files thread

Real minor transition error … but you’re approved! GREAT JOB! Thanks

#11

Hi there!

Will you be able to do the final scene?
Here it is:

Good luck!

#12

ok, i’ll try and get those done, woody posted 49 and 50 so i might just use his to save time

#13

Yes, good idea. Use these and we’ll put together all the different previs threads into one long previs. I’ll ask one of the editing guys to do that. Once you and kirt are finished these, I think we’ll be done. We can then talk to the animators and show them the previses in order to show them what we want from them.

Good job so far!

#14

ok made new thread…

#15

Will you start up your own thread for the previs 0-10? That would make it easier for kirt to crit you (in a nice way, of course… )
