Prevent copying of groups in model copy paste operations

#1

Is there any way to stop AM from copying groups with materials and surface properties alongside CPs? It’s a handy feature to have, but I’d prefer if I could specify when I don’t want it to do it, like the bones pasting, which is optional.

Is there a toggle switch anywhere that I’ve missed, or is it just a matter of deleting the duplicate groups or ignoring them?

yeah fraid not. It’s one of those things where the computer is trying to be helpful. much of the time this is useful, but not a whole lot. it’s a case of you just have to either live with or clean up as you go. a paste filter function would be nice sort of like we have for keyframed data but in modeling mode… hmm that sounds like a nice feature request i’m off to http://www.hash.com/reports to submit it as a request. We can both keep our fingers crossed.

You can always paste into a new empty model, delete the groups folder of the new model in the PWS, copy just the remaining geometry and paste that into the original model.

Not very elegant, though.

You could try pressing ‘.’ twice. This should select everything but the group first press and then, the second time it will select just the goemetry, forgetting that it is part of a group.

I havn’t tried it but I think it should work.

Nope, fraid not, it’s not group selection related, it will duplicate every group caught in the selection, even if it’s just a single CP. It can get pretty messy if you like to layer groups or do lots of copy and pastes…

Hmmm… I’m sure it never used to work like that. I can see how it would be handy though so I’m not sure I would want it changed. Tricky one…
