#607

Awesome stuff!! Here’s mine

#608

I meant with rendering the on screen image, so I can add my own background, my textures have alphas already thanks though

Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out, was just being stupid, it automatically does it! :banghead:

My final entry.

http://www.gameartisans.org/contests/minis/finals_cgsociety_3d_4230.html

I forgot to check my colors between my two displays. Its kinda too bright for my taste.

Its been fun guys good work everyone! Now let’s prepare for the main challenge

#610

#612

squeek in under the wire…
here are more WIP and the final shots in UDK

#613

Hi guys. Great work everyone~ My final image.

#614

Wow, incredible work guys! Sadly, I ran out of time. Serves me right for trying to do a few weeks work in about 5 days :stuck_out_tongue:

For what it’s worth, here’s how far I got. I was actually somewhat hopeful that I’d get at least something finished but some technical stumbling blocks did me in, as I thought they might.

I’m still gonna finish this guy off, he’s too far along to drop now.

#615

Hi, Im sorry for dont have the character rigged and posed, but dont have much time these days to finish it. Hope you like it, thats my final images.

#616

Great work everyone, this is my entry,
here’s my submission

#617

Yes…so much more I could have achieved with another week. No time for rigging of posing, very basic spec map, bad render and poor presentation submission. Will try harder next time but found it to be a great warm up.

#618

Well all of you have done awesome in getting your final images in.I have fallen short in doing so but I figure i’d post what I did get done.Still in maya and still some texturing to be finished.I’m happy with my character so I will continue and finish him.

@halrequin- so glad you finished and brought the brightness up,ended up looking really cool.
@kingstonz- very cool concept drawings, I like your model alot but the hair throws me off.Realy cool idea though and good job getting it done.

#619

Everyone has posted some awesome work. Congratulations to all that finished. Unfortunately for me, I did not. I just tried to do too many new things at once. But because of that, I learned a lot in this short period of time, and am excited for the Dominance War main event.

Here is what I had done up until the deadline:

turntable

The final model came out to a cool 2980 triangles. I plan on finishing the model to the contest’s specifications. However, now that the time constraint has been lifted, I have a bit more freedom in exploring different methods. I will post any future updates on this model in a personal sketchbook thread.

#620

brandonlafrance -this work is crap sorry but its my opinion

#621

That is not very important I am afraid.

brandonlafrance, you have some good stuff going on in there. The stuff that isnt working like your cage and the textures are things you can fix with a couple of good tutorial dvds. From memory I think Eat3d has some good ones on this subject. They dont go as low as 3000 tris but you will get the idea.

Keep doing, keep showing your stuff.

The comment above mine is also useful. The poster is helping you.

#622

Missed the submission date because of my day job but I don’t like things being left unfinished so here it is, was fun all the same

#623

Some really great pieces in here. I also didn’t manage to finish in time, below is where I got before the contest. I’m going to continue working on it in the next few weeks and try to get a decent portfolio piece out of it.

#624

As I said in my first post, this was my first attempt at a project of this scope. I came here expecting feedback and criticism, and I appreciate whatever of it I can get. I am not new to the world of art, I know from experience that criticism is one of the best teachers. The more honest and direct it is, the better. However, I think all good artists know the difference between good criticism and bad trolling. I know that the piece needs work, but i need you to be more specific, andreandre.

With that out of the way…

Thank you for the advice and kind words, Kanga. I have all ready come up with a huge list of areas that need improvement and the texture is definitely on the top. I was cutting corners at every step in order to save time. I am going back through the process, from concept to textures spending time on the areas that need it most. I will post updates to my personal sketchbook thread in the artistic anatomy section.

I knew the textures needed a lot of work, but could you touch on some of your specific complaints with the cage? I can see that the silhouette is a bit boring, but I was about to give myself a pat on the back for the topology. With the cage resolution so limited, I was planning on putting most of the detail in the texture.
