Very nice Rueben. How long did that take to render and how many polys is that?

Thanks,

The scene is about 250,000 polys and Camera is saying 3 minues per frame, but i think on windows machines the times are rounded to the nearest minute, seconds are not displayed so it could be closer to 2 min’s.

Here’s another project i’m thinking of making a tutorial with, like a “how to composite 3D object into photographs” type thing :hmm: still need a bit of work…

Tomas! the Cockroach and Bee is photoreal, just show it to my friend and he won’t belive that is CG, until he saw the wire frame…

Nice work Reuben, as always I enjoy your tutorial very much…

and here is mine

Thanks Reuben! Your renderings are great! Do you have any higher res images? The ones you have up are pretty small. I’d love to know how you’re lighting your scene. Are you using a light probe image for IBL, an equirectangular ref map? LightRig?

Silo IS a good modeler, although fact files aren’t fully supported. The EI modeler is still great for creating smooth NURBS surfaces and tight, accurate radii. The EI modeler also creates an extremely efficient fact file. Between them, you pretty much have it covered.

Your work is fantastic. Do you have an online portfolio?

This is a great image! Your modeling is superb. And it looks like you got a work contract from posting this too. Great going!

This was my entry for the Spectacular Challenge. I wish I had more time to refine the water and wake. I made this with Silo and EI 5.5. All coments and crits are most welcome:

Thanks!

Thank you very much Harry, here is my website -http://www.affinity3d.com/, everything on there was done with Silo, EIM and EIAS, most of the car models were bought in though, oh and site is still under construction btw :wip:

The images above… you should get a bigger image if you click the thumbnails, like 1024x768 no ?

For those images i used the GI skymap feature, basic workflow as follows -

Map your background image to a sphere which surrounds the whole scene, front projection (flat)and keep the aspect, then copy the image and paste into the skymap window, this way the background image “tints” your model/s with its colors, same concept as Illuminator-Gel’s and LightRig  basically thats it, if theres a strong light source (like the sun) in the background image then place a light within the sphere to approximate it.

The GI skymap feature also works very well with spherical HDR images, i plan to do some more tutorials at some point, just really need to get my site finished first.

Modeled with EI Modeler v5

some old stuff, very old indeed.
somehow i still like it…

Uwe,

They are great! I really really like the first one. Is it the NPR shader or a crazy refraction effect?

And looking at your website, you have a wealth of fabulous images: not to mention 3 rODEo videos I hadn’t seen!

Thanks Ian.

These are just refractions. No fancy shader.
Fine-tuning the bump-maps to make it look interesting was quite some fun, as far as i remember…

#20

nice work Uwe.

Are you sure that’s not a Photo of the board?

#21

Hi all!

GI work in course

#22

Fantastic !, nice model too… did you model it ?

I been trying to find some decent architectural models, or a collection of, on luck so far

Okie, here are a few, we were pretty quiet at work this week so I was updating the folio. This first one was a project from 2.9 that I gutted and updated (new HM furniture, pictures etc). I’ll post the old one on Monday for comparison  Anyway, because it was a 2.9 project going straight into 6.5 it became corrupted slightly so raytrace transparency didn’t work (glass came out black).

The second was a piece for a client, and the third was for Chelsea Football Club (Abramovich’s lair).

All JPEGs @ 50%

Comments welcome!

Here’s a some pages from my online graphic novel RayGun Girl. I used Mr Nitro to blow up the buildings. I’m using EI occasionally on this project for sets. I use Poser, and Vue mostly, though.
