Post Your best modeling tuts

#221

Hi guys…I need some help too. I was browsing these great posts hoping to find something related to Robots (andoids, those humanoid kinds).

I would like to model one similar to those NS-5s from the movie “i Robot”. But I can’t find some useful reference image :frowning:

Maybe here is someone who made already something similar…

THANKS!!

Hey Guys,

I’ve made a video tutorial on how to create a photorealistic rim in Maya. In about 15 videos I show every step from scene setup over polygon modeling, uv mapping, texturing and finally rendering with mental ray.

If you’re interested just click on:

Any comments or critique is welcome… thx

Hey guys. I’m releasing my classroom guides, it is very simple since these guides are made under assumptions that the students have 0 experience in modeling.

But of course the basic modeling, concept, interface introductions etc should be taught beforehand.

The guide was made under 3D Studio Max 6. Yes, it is old but I assume it’s still usable since I don’t see much change in 3D Studio Max workflow/interface.

These curriculum was tested for couple of years during my employment at Tridigital Academy. And the student have great response and great understanding at the concept and material.

Hopefully people can find a good use out of these guides. Currently I’m processing the main curriculum. And slowly I will release the guides as soon as they’re clean from copyrighted materials.

You may use it anyway you like as long as you give proper credits to me.

and oh I won’t mind some critics if you have any.

Cheers and enjoy.

Hi guys,

here is some information on how to create realistic car paint in V-Ray

Wow, those are great. But can you please post the reference file for the alien or tell me how to get it?

#229

thanks.

It was ooold class exercise module. I wrote it in 2005.

I’ll have to take a look on it whether all the files are still intact. It’s suppose to be in my archive DVD but I have to scavenge through them. Organizing DVD isn’t my specialty apparently. lol.

When I found it I’ll upload it somewhere using public file sharing.

Hi people,
Here is a little PDF tutorial I wrote for box-modeling a human/humanoid male body base. It won a little Intel tutorial competition, but is nothing super special - just a basic guide. The focus is on creating a model that works well in animation.

I'm also giving away the final mesh (OBJ-format) in 3 versions: bulky(hero) male, normal male, normal woman. You may use the bases however you like, for example as base for futher modeling or sculpting, but not for sale. This stuff, like all the other things on [my blog](http://www.cgmascot.com/), is free learning material. I'm introducing the blog on a [separate thread](http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=25&t=909094).

BTW I'm working on a video tutorial for complete character creation. That will futher elaborate on the modeling approach used in the above tutorial.
