flyingP: Life is unfortunately full of ‘maybe’ briefings… :argh:

I would like to learn some Japanese too please.
And Italian, so I can eavesdrop on my wife when she talks to her Italian friends…
…and to be able to say a proper ‘hey how are you’ when they call…

#384

Indeed, an it is even more fun when they all come at the same time, and then after spending ages on the phone trying to get one made into an actual booking they ALL end up being dropped … damn freelance is fun :banghead:

Lesson 1 Japanese:

Thanks: Domo
Thank you (polite): (Domo) Arigato
Thank you very much (very polite): Domo Arigato Gosaimashita

Simple verbs: to understand: wakarimasu

I, you, he, we, you, they understand: Wakarimasu
I, you, he, we, you, they do not understand: Wakarimasen
Do(es) I, you, he, we, you, they understand?: Wakarimasuka

Eigo wakarimasuka? - Do you speak English?
Hai, wakarimasu! - Yes I do.
Iie, wakarimasuka! - No I do not. (rare to use “no” though)

I’m not 100% sure about the sentences, but hey, its a start right…

Heh yes that’s a heck of a lot of digressing…should get back to the pics…but a separate language thread would be very interesting, seeing as how many worldwide and multilingual people there are, might help us monolingual short bus riders.

One thing though, I always wondered about learning how to say something like “do you speak english” in another language…you’d figure the language you’re asking them if they speak, you should just ask in that language…quick way to find out

P.S. flyingP - Ah yes, the endless maybes…I’m not sure what’s worse though, if they all drop or when they all say yes! I think I need to travel somewhere without internet and cell phone service, and conveniently forget my laptop. Pretty soon though the only place that would qualify for that would be at the bottom of the ocean or something. :scream:

#389

when did that all happen btw, dammit I used to get by with a pencil and few markers and delivered my stuff either per hand or with the currier, now I’ve got 5 computers sitting here (accumulated over the years) DSL connection an email address full of spam…and far too many computer games :argh:

#390
