Possible to un-Bake an animation?

I’m working with some old motion capture animation (10 years old) and I’ve run into an issue, I brought the animation from Motionbuilder over to Maya.

I need to re-attach a visor piece to a character’s helmet because the group that originally worked on the project separated it for some reason and it seems like the visor has an animation. However, the visor piece is not attached to any bones and has no keyframes on the timeline or on the animation graph, almost like it’s baked? Is there any way I can un-bake the animation data from the object?

Anyone have any other ideas?
