Positions for collaborative film

#34

I’ll be up for lighting mainly and post if needed as well.

edit: I use XSI primarily.

#35

Yeah, nothing scheduled before the M&S deadline, please :]

I think this could be a lot of fun. I’ll do better work if I have a couple of characters assigned to me rather than a whole bunch of ‘stuff’. I don’t do vehicles and whatever a tenth as well as I do characters… so if it’ll be a movie with tanks and big warriors going at it, I think I’d better watch from the sidelines :]

#36

Great idea.

I’m up for some modelling though may be best on props and such that don’t need to be deformed (guess there won’t be much need for that if you go with the square peg through round hole story  ).

I use XSI and ZBrush.

#37

I’d love to help in any way I can, but I’m new to alot of this. I’m working on my modeling skills in Maya at the moment. Just thought I would throw this out there in case some help was needed.

#38

Greetings, guys!

I’d like to help in this venture. my skills are modeling and texturing. But only after M&M’s deadline

cheers!

#39

I want to write for a while now, for a change. I’m sick of modeling and painting. Can’t say how much time I’d have for it though; my schedule is never really very open, and periodically it gets REALLY bad.

#40

I agree, I gotta get the stubborn piece over with :argh:

#41

I would also love to help. But as many others I got full time job but I will do my best. The problem are 3 months (jun, july august) where I won’t have any free time at all.but after it can again do something after work. I’m working mainly in 3dsmax, vray. I would love to make light but I guess you want to use maya mr and not vray=). So I can do model and concept.

#42

I’d personally be up for lighting (Maya), or post (After Effects, Final Cut Pro). Think there’s more than enough riggers, modelers and animators on-line already.

Looking at the timeline, I noticed that it was staged to jump directly from lighting to post. Methinks a little render time might be in order (that needs to be a task in and of itself – render wrangling), and I’m inclined to agree that another week at least needs to be added to to animation round. It would be one thing if we were all in the same office going over dailies etc.

Has there been any consideration given to music/foley/etc?

Oh yeah, another voice of agreement to wait until after M&S!

#43

I’d love to do lighting, max is what I’m used to but I can probably learn whatever is necessary

#44

I won’t be in on this as I don’t have the time but would love to help out in the future, so it would be cool if the guys working on were able to post stages so we can all see where its going and us cheerleaders can help out in a small way by commenting and such.

Actaully I might be able to spare abit of time for the 2D layout shots, but having never done any 2D layout shots before I’m not sure its such a good idea to leave me on my own with it. Also on the cheerleader note I call top of the pyramid! :stuck_out_tongue:

#45

If there will be time for experimenting I’d also love to learn some new soft. Maybe that way I will be more determined to finally discover some good points of maya ;).

#46

I would love to join in as an animator on this. That at least is the area I do well. I have to say though I am no where near at the level of most of these folks, and probably would hold things up. I would say keep me on the back burner and if some additional help is needed finishing up a sequence let me know and I’ll join the fray.

#47

great idea. I like it.

Count me in for animation.

cheers!

mauricio

#48

I’m going to have to agree with sheep completely.

#49

nice to see this sort of thing starting up, would have liked to have helped out on the concept art/storyboard front front (modelling too maybe  … I’m slow  ) … but then I am also helping JamesMK with his short…er…not sure why… he is a git after all… FP runs for cover  …and I am moving country (if anyone else is thinking about it BTW…DON’T :banghead: )

best of luck with this all the same people

#50

Better keep running, pig  Ah, there’s the real reason for moving to the other side of the globe!

Anyways, this is a great initiative, and I really hope it works out well (it won’t be difficult to beat the Alienz project in the speed department at least… muwaahaahaa) - I would join in, but seeing as I can’t seem to get up to speed with my own (and pig’s) short, it’s obviously useless for me to jump into another in addition.

I do offer my general support and occasional cheers. First one now: Yay! (the next cheer to be delivered at a later point)

#51

this is an awesome idea,

while I would like to do any of these positions, since you guys made me choose.

Im in for post production and effects.

cant wait to get this going.

#52

I’d love to be in on this! Although I have very little experience, I’d be up for anything that I could do to help. Preferably animation, but it looks like you have a number of very talented animators already signed up. Hah, oh well.
I really like the concept of this short. It’s simple and charming and not overly ambitious for an online community project.

If you’re interested in working on the film “A Simple Truth About Life”, please sign up in the Current Needs thread which is now sticky at the top of this forum.

This thread got too big too fast, so it’s a little difficult to wade through and see who wanted to work on the film. I’ve created the sticky thread to keep everyone listed who’s expressed interest in working on the film. The first post in that thread lists the volunteers and positions filled.

Thanks!
