Title: Portrait of Tony

Name: Ian Spriggs

I’m happy to present my latest 3D portrait, my long time friend Tony.
It was modelled and textured in Maya and Mudbox, no scans were used, it was rendered with V-Ray, touch ups and colour corrections done in Photoshop, and the hair is nhair with a V-Ray hair shader.

Holy sh*t,
This has to be the best rendering of a human I have seen to date. I was absolutely sure this was a photograph. The modelling is great, but what realy blows my mind is the shading. There is nothing that betrays its CG nature.
Congratulations to that beautiful piece of work!

On a sidenote: that dude looks like a blend between James Franco and Chris Pratt

Oh my God. That’s amazing. I really thought that was a photo. It’s hard to believe is 3d piece of work. Cool. Really cool. It must take a lot of time. How long have you been doing this?

Looks awesome. One of the rare 3d character with alive eyes

WOW, just WOW!
The only thing that looks a bit like CG - hair (it’s very clean and fluffy). But everything else are top notch!

If you have a blog or any more information about your lighting solution and rendering set up, I’d love to read it! Great work!
