Portfolio show piece: frank feedback needed.

#1

Hello everybody.
I worked on citybuilders games during the last couple of years and I made the following building for my portfolio. The last project I worked on was meant to be realistic in style, and this building is in line with that project. Only huge difference is that the game bulildings were rendered at higher resolution, I wanted to show more details with this one.
Anyway, I posted it on Facebook and I got some frank, negative feedback. It boils down to tha fact that the building does not cut it. The best explanation I got is something like:

There’s someting odd with the rear roof border, it seems taller than the rest of the building.

Now, if a piece does not cut it for a gamer, then it does not cut it at all, and expecially with new employers.
Please, may I have some frank professional feedback? On my own I can only get that this isn’t the best building ever, but I can’t get what’s actually bad… Thanks in advance.

You could have told them: ever heard of isometric?

Anyways the only problem with the roof for me is that it is one of the most visible pieces of this type of artwork, yet it is probably one of least interesting to look at, not to mention it takes up to half of the picture.

Other than that, seems like a rather nice game asset.

Hello Kazkas, thanks for your feedback.
Yes, they’re not used to isometric…
Unfortunately the roof is always a problem with isometric, especially when dealing with somewhat realistic assetts.
