Portfolio feedback

#1

I’d like to know what you guys think about my portfolio.

Would you suggest me to start making a new portfolio from scratch or to adjust it into a game art portfolio?

what did you mean by shifting to game art?

the items third image looked ‘floating’.

the fourth one (bathroom?) is awesome.

my simple advice is to remove the third image from your portfolio. show your best foot foward!

I like these. Yet, I would take out the first 3, as they look like random objects with an HDR background. The rest are good, but I would put smaller details on the models, as they look simple. Also, be sure to dirty things up in the textures. Think about where people would be interacting. Would oil from someone’s hand be left on a doorknob? Would certain areas have more footprints? Are there areas in the rooms that might not be getting cleaned as well as others due to being a bit out of the way? Does the floor scratch with constant sliding of chair legs? What objects in these rooms should have dust? That kind of stuff really pushes things to the next level.

Yes I recognize that background. I also suggest leaving out those first three renders as not enough attention has been given to placing the objects.

Please don’t post work in the General Discussions forum.

Lighting could be improved. Many of the objects have a low-contrast, diffuse look to them. The other problem I see is modelling - many of the objects here look like they weren’t created using reference material. Your cassette for example looks distinctly longer than I remember them, and your toilet is very large and too low to the ground. Same thing goes for your red telephone; that dialing ring should be much bigger.

Don’t be discouraged by anything you may read in this thread. You’re on the right track, just keep practicing, and try to use references from the real world to guide you, and that goes for modelling, texturing or lighting.

Wow, i didn’t expect this many replies!

Thank you for your time looking and commenting my work and feel free to let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to improve!

Also, this question may be a bit offtopic but where do you guys suggest me to look for a job in this archviz field and what do you think is the best way of getting a job in this field?

If you think my work isn’t good enough for any employment, feel free to let me know that as well!

Hey there, nice start on your portfolio !
I would agree with what has been said about those first three images. Your environments all look a bit flat (lacking contrast), try and have some obvious darker parts and brighter parts to give the viewer something to focus on.
In the outdoor environment for example maybe change the angle of the sun so you get a shadow in the foreground.
The dining room seems to have the exact same amount of light all over which looks weird and boring. Maybe darken the scene down and make those lights from the cealing light up, so you get some darker parts.

Its a very good start but i think you can put in a bit more work on composition and lighting to get a much better portfolio.
I myself are in process of building up my portfolio to look for some archviz/visualisation work in the future. But i think i still have a lot to learn and way to few pieces of work done yet. Maybe in a year or so ill start looking for work in that field
Best of luck to you !
