polypaint 50% grey

Hey everyone,
I’ve been painting a bump map in polypaint on layers. In the pic I’ve selected 50% grey as my color(the base color for the map). You can see the stroke is much darker.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Turn gradient off. :blush:
