pmG messiah Dare to Share

#1

I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere here, so hopefully this is new and useful information.

pmG are offering the possibility to get their messiah studio for a drastically reduced rate ($10 or $40 based on version) if sufficient people choose to do likewise. From their site : ‘This offer is open to: Individuals, small businesses, hobbyists, starving artists, the unemployed, schools, students, CG studios, game developers, plugin developers, architects, tinkerers, compositors and aspiring movie makers, in any country. Limit 4 copies per customer, mix and match.’

You can find out more here.

At that price you can’t really go wrong… Wait and see if this materializes into a real licence…
Thanks for the tip.

#3

How would it not be a real license? It says right on the page that everyone who orders will get their license when the goal is met. I’m seeing this getting posted all over forums and Twitter, at this price it may go pretty quick.

#4

Already orderer although I won’t probably use it

#5

That’s a uh… pretty amazing offer. I’m down for it, since money was the main reason I hadn’t tried Messiah before.

#6

I ordered a pro version. Cool idea to gain popularity! And even better that it somewhat supports linux!

#7

I went for the $10 version

It will be an interesting ride to see if they make it.

I wonder how many lics they have to sell to actually make money from it ?

cheers

#8

No brainer at that price. I always wanted to give it a try.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

It’s probably not about making money from this move, atleast not in the short run. They wanna pull in new customers who been considering their application but for one reason or another not jumped into it yet. This would be a good time for them to jump on and get a feel of it for a low cost. The money for them would come in later on when all the new customers need to pay for the next big upgrade.

I must admit it’s pretty clever.

Or hey maybe they all really love it and tell their friends and associates. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt here, I’ve never actually used it.

#11

So wait - you only get your license when the progress bar is full but you have to pay beforehand? So your money is gone when the amount of ordered licenses is not high enough? Sounds a bit suspicious to me…

#12

Well people were buying it at full price I’m sure they will still buy it at an insanely low price. I fully expect them to reach their goal quickly, I’m going to buy-in early just in case. I conveniently just started a job when I haven’t had work in a while so this is perfect timing for me.

#13

went for the 40$ one, I think it’s a great deal can’t miss it!! :deal: :applause:

#14

Ok lets give it a try…also went for the 40$ one

#15

well, I guess the money is not gone if they don’t reach the goal… I imagine they would pay it back in such case. Otherwise that would be nothing but a theft…

anyway, they don’t say what happens to your money if the goal is not reached…

#16

I can’t imagine that they would not reach the goal, they’re not like some new company just starting out, they’ve been popular for years, people aren’t going to just stop buying it.

#17

I agree that it would be nice to tell what happens if the goal is not reached. Most likely it will be but for paying customers info like that is always important.

#18

Well so far the goal level doesn’t seem to be moving at all. So I guess the amount needed is huge.

From the website:
“We will update the progress bar so you can see where you’re at in reaching that goal.”

So I guess they do it manually.
I just bought the $40 one and I’m doing my part to spread the word.
