pmg manual is incomplete

#1

I am going through the manual & tutorials to
learn pmg. But it turns out, a lot of stuff isn’t
documented. can anyone help me with this:

  1. can’t find modify-tap under clips-tap in compose,
to load motionclips (as mentioned in tutorial). where is it ?

  2. motion dynamics
how to apply (antennas, belly, etc) ?
there is no word on it in the tutorials.

  3. walker:
    how does it work ?
    not covered in manual

  4. how to setup a hand in autorig II ?
it seems very time consuming and hard to control to drag every little dot
in position. There must be a faster way.

thanks !

Unfortunately the manual is a little out of date. As I went through some of the tutorials I had to hunt around in the interface for the new way of performing some of the tasks.

For your first question I’m guessing you are going through the advanced compose tutorial. I believe you can right-click on the compose tab itself to get the command to load a clip.

For your second question perform a search on this forum…there is a great example in one of the threads for an antenna-like setup.

For three and four I’m not sure…I’m still pretty much a noob. Maybe some of the more senior members will be able to answer you.

It seems that pmG announces new features or fixes in the “What’s New” page with each new rev, but they fail to carry that information over to the next release. So, if you just purchased messiah, the information is just sadly not there.

This is from messiah (studio 1.5c and animate 4.0e) “What’s New” page concerning Compose:

Compose

  • Undo clip baking
  • Mirror channels on clip and/or instance
  • Clip file ops accessible from the File menu (you must be in Compose mode)
  • Compose->Tracks->Record->Auto Track Create (F3 area)
Note: This allows you to prevent Compose from automatically creating a track
  • Record Source (and some other parameters) are now saved in the config file
  • Bypass mirroring on clip elements (F3 area)

Even after reading the above, you’d never know that you have to right-click on the File tab while in Compose mode to access the Clip File ops.

There is a sample scene for Walker in the previous rev of messiah- but, it looks like pmG decided to remove it for the latest release. Probably b/c Walker is still a “work-in-progress” along with Autorig II. And nobody knows when they will be finished, not even the beta testers.
