I’ve had a lot of luck with Enhance_AM shaders from www.shaders.org

Once you get past the funky way they work (layering takes some getting used to - but is very powerful once you DO get used to it) - the are amazingly un-procedural-like

@JoeW, is enhance compatible with v10.5? How are the render times? Much slower?? Did you use some materials for the hunter_sword picture?

thanks

Pablo,

Yes, Enhance AM is compatible with 10.5 - and yes, I did use it on the Hunter image. The metal, the leather, the beak and the skull bone use Enhance materials. I usually will overlay maps to add details - and “dirty up” that “too perfect” surface. You can do a LOT with materials, and since I’m only a so-so map painter, I use them when I think they’re the best choice. Now, her skin is all painted - I don’t think you can get around that and have a good looking model…

Also, there are things that you can only do with materials in AM. Due to the fact that there is no such thing as a specular color map in AM I often have to depend on materials to get believable metals and surfaces where there are multiple colors in the specular hilights.

Well we have a new plug-in app called weight mover that will be comming out around August 1st that alows you to transfer weights from a low res proxy model to a highrez version with various types of exclusion groups so that it is possible to add things like scales and other complex surfaces to characters. We’re still experimenting with various things with it, but it a very unique and relitivly easy way to create weights for a model, and is only available for A:M. It can be found at http://www.rafhashvideotapes.com/wemoforam.html
We might be demoing this at the hash party on Wednesday at siggraph this week. And if all goes well we might have a small friend I’ll call, “Pidge” that might be worth seeing if he’s done and working in time.

Also with the release of my Mastering Materials Volume 1 CD set there is another new app called Node Cloner. it basicaly lets you copy attributes and node chains from one material to another or from one part of a material to another part of the same material. Currently it is only available on my Mastering Materials CD, but we might make it a seperate program in the future.

Of course this being Siggraph week we’re sure to have some sales on stuff like TSM for all packages and a bunch of the training CD’s.

I like the Zettle plug-in nto help smooth models. And as a bonus, it’s free

Hi,

My question is: I can to use the turbulence and materials available in the Downloads page of Yves Poissant’s site in A:M 10.5 versions? or only in v.8.5?

A great materials, I really like it.

I wish the Python scripting plug-in were more up to date. Great addition to AM for procedural stuff.

SynthEyes is a match-moving system that supports A:M.

Stand-alone Windows ME/2000/XP program.
Fully automatic match-moving for straightforward shots.
Rapid supervised tracking for difficult tracks.
Blending at tracker keys, with efficient supervisory workflow.
Wizard to clean up supervised tracks.
Mix supervised and automatic tracking on the same shot.
Multi-shot batch processing for unattended operation.
Object discrimination with animated splines or alpha-key rotoscoping.
Multiple cameras and moving objects with simultaneous solving, including mixes such as tripod-mounted camera with moving object, or a video shot plus digital camera reference stills.
Can compute camera pan/tilt and tracker directions when camera was mounted on a tripod (ie computes a 2-D track because 3-D is not possible).
Fixed (known or unknown) or zooming lens field of view.
Manual or automated lens distortion compensation.
Flexible coordinate system alignment controls.
Refine previously-computed solutions, for rapid tweaking.
Post-solve camera path filtering.
Light solver to determine light position or direction from ray or planar geometry.
Tracker and camera/object graph viewports (~animation curve).
Scrubbable and real-time RAM Buffer Playback with 3-D CG object overlays.
Imports: AVI, DV, MPEG, QuickTime™ (Apple) MOV, sequenced Targa, JPG, TIFF, BMP, Cineon, SMPTE DPX, SGI RGB.
Exposure control for selected incoming imagery types.
Exports via SIZZLE™ output scripting language, so you can modify existing exporters, or add new ones.
Included exporters for MAXscript (3ds max, 3D Studio VIZ); Maya scene file; Hash Animation Master; Lightwave, Inspire 3D, Maxon C4D, Truespace, (these four via .LWS); Discreet Inferno. Sample exports available. If you are keen on a certain export and are willing to help, see what is needed to develop new exporters.
Configurable keyboard mapping.
Configurable viewport configurations.
Configurable coordinate system definition (Max, Maya, LW, etc).
Configurable color scheme.
Floatable control panel.

MirrorSplines is the heat:buttrock:

http://www.geocities.jp/masashi_wolf_watanabe/amplugins/AnimationMasterPlugins

It will make one side of your model match the other side exactly. It will move bones cp’s and decals. So you can totally deform and re-assign cp’s to bones on one side then run the plug-in and both sides match!

Hello, all.

I just wanted to mention that Emilio Le Roux has a new plugin called “Sweep.”
The details:

'Looks useful!

the page seems to be down, for now. Seems great though

Just tried it and the page opens for me just fine.

When you are able to open or see the web page you’ll see various clickable options including a smaller text area for the ver 11 files. However, these are only the shareware plugins with the low limits, (unless I’m mistaken).

To find out how to purchase you need to download the “earlier” version and view the included “how to purchase” html page. This will clue you in to how to pay through paypal. If the price is still just $12.00 USD then it’s quite a deal.

If anyone else’s experience is different let us know. Thanks.

There is a new plugin from Mister Gross, which is a replacement for the (quite weak) rigdbody-feature…

It is based on a free engine called Newton.

Try it out, it is free.
