Plugins or anything to make materials and mapping easier in Rhino&V-Ray?

#1

Hi, I have switched from 3ds Max to Rhino 4.0 (with V-ray) and I miss some features in mapping and materials.

Among other things, this list…:

1 Mix and mask map - used to blend two textures or materials, using black and white mask.

2 Falloff map

3 Unwraping/texporter plugin/anything making mapping nicer to use…?

Are there any plugins/scripts to help out with materials and mapping in rhino+v-ray? It would be a great help!

Thanks in advance for any info.

Bear with me, it’s 4am.

  1. Not that I know of :frowning: You might want to ask the guys on the asgvis forum if they’ve found a workaround for this though.

  2. You could try Fresnel Texture or the Angle Blend Material, hopefully they’ll do the trick.

  3. I haven’t really looked around much. Just keep in mind though, you’re looking for Rhino mapping tools, not necessarily something for V-Ray for Rhino. V-Ray just uses Rhino’s mapping.

Damien is the scripting guru so to speak over at the asgvis forums, and there are a number of verterans on there too that have been using V-Ray for Rhino since it came out. Make sure you post your questions there too. The guys over at McNeel are great too, so don’t forget to stop by their site either.

Oh also, we just released the official V-Ray for Rhino 4 SR1 on Friday. There’s a new manual available for download as well.
