Plugins like Crack_it

#1

Hey everyone,

I wonder if someone has ever bothered to make a 9.x-plugin to break up an object, like Crack_it did. Now, in it’s day Crack_it worked wonders but now it doesn’t work with the recent versions of Lightwave anymore.

Is there a new plugin like this available?

Cheers.

do a search on newteks forums, theres a couple new scripts.

or why not just use Crackit in LW 8 modeler then import the model into LW 9+?

Hehe,

My humble pc would be full of old LW versions. I need my harddrive space.

Isnt modeler like 30 megs or something?!

#5

wtf?! how did i reply before you?

hehe…something wild going on when posting…I noticed this in one of my post yesterday, it jumped up before the post I was replying to…

About crackit, yeah sure we could always use v.8 of lightwave, but it´s nicer thou not having to many versions installed to avoiding screw ups in cfgs etc…

It feels a little silly thou that this pretty plugin wich I felt was the best for crackin up pieces isn´t compatible with recent version and no update to it is done.

Mg break up
c4 destruct

and there´s breakit…
http://www.truveo.com/BreakIt-124-pl…/id/2007121982

but I don´t know where it´s available, breakit looks a little bit like crackit and Im
not sure if he´s the same guy behind it? would be nice to know who the author of these two plugins are?

here´s a useful thread at spinquad with links within to plugins, and some tips if you would like to use houdini to crack your pieces and even do the dynamic sim and then export to lightwave.

Now…these kind of tools should ofcourse really be in Lightwave Core…Right, otherwise it´s not really out of the box.

its rather easy to setup both versions of lw to use their own cfgs, again read up on it and in the end which is worse, using crackit, or not?

think breakIt is by Dodgy…

Crackit was made by a japanese guy, not sure if hes around anymore as there hasnt been a Crackit update in years… thing is, its a .ls isnt it? some smart guy could probably reverse engineer it for 9+ couldnt they?!

Hi guys

I’m running LW9.6 on my standard Windows XP 32bit pc, and crackit works perfectly. Attached is a sample I just made to see for myself.

Well god darnit, I wasn´t aware of that, Ive tested it on the 9.5 wich didn´t work and I heard nothing about that it was ok in 9.6 so I didn´t bother to test it, but you are right, I just tested it and it works fine and dandy now, Thanks!

And yeah ofcourse howard it´s no big deal setting up the cfgs perhaps when confronted with using it or not.

But that´s not neccesary now anyway:)

I tried this today as well, and this made my day. It worked with error messages, but it worked!

#11

good news!

as i said before, I believe the original is a .ls?
one of you smart guys should hack the original and make it so you can do more iterations… a mate of mine did years ago, but unfortunately I lost that version… i think he also made the cutting objects better or added some sharp or jagged settings…

Dpont?!

Man, that Break it 1.2.4 looks badass!

I hope LWCORE takes a lot of those plugins in script and incorporate them inside of the app and tweak them to full potential, especially lot of the lagacy stuff.

#13

hadnt seen that realtime preview in breakit, very cool!

next whats needed is the ability to design the boolean objects, or type of breaks, instead of standard broken ceramic chunks… ie. wooden shaped splinters, or cracked sharp glass, rocky blobby soil, etc… all breaking scripts make ceramic clay pot looking chunks which isnt great.

#14

No, BreakIt is made by Papou! but his plugins is not offically release yet! See his quote:- http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94115

Yeah, breakIt looks so cool!
