Pilot film

#1

The company I’m working for, Cape Town (South Africa)-based studio Triggerfish Animation, has recently completed the 4-minute pilot for their animated feature film entitled Zambezia.

Over the last year, a core creative team has been working on characters, environments, and the various technical challenges of bringing feathered CG birds to life in a teeming bird-city.

The pilot animation itself, Welcome to Zambezia, was produced with a small team of animators over a three month period as a proof of concept, using Lightwave 8.5 and Messiah for the character animation.

Zambezia is set to go into full production in early 2007, to be released mid-2008.

Please check out our website, any crits and comments on the pilot would be very welcome.

I like what I saw, although it’s a bit too low res. The landscapes are stunning, the tree is awesome. Can’t wait to see the final version;)

Looks really promising. Animation movies produced in africa are way overdue. Its nice to see that we are finally producing something of this magnitude and quality. All the best

Really nice work! And VERY nice to see the screen grab of messiah:studio on the Characters page. Is it rendered in messiah too?

Double wow. Where did you guys come from!?! What an amazing ambitious project. I’d love to find out more about your pipeline and why/where/how you chose to do it the way you have.

beautiful work. I’d be very interested in seeing more.
Only thing that made me mildly suspicious was the character building with extrapolation. Seemed a tad forced. But the visuals made up for that!

Nice work! And don’t look so surprised Wegg, I told you there were stealthy messiah users about.

Beautiful work & great concept.
I can’t wait to see the full finished version…

Were you involved with “Always Take the Weather With You”? This reminds me of it and your avatar certainly does. I love Jungle Beat!

I wrote to them, and they told me they rendered it in Lightwave.
