Photoshop CS3 weirdness-hide selection not working?!

#1

ok this is driving me nuts…usually if I make a selection, “CTRL+H” hides the selection right? Lately for some unknown reason this no longer works and I have never messed with keyboard assignments (nor did I see any listed for Hide Selection?) has this happened to anyone else…how do you fix it! Grrr…!

I think this happened to me recently, and it had something to do with the “Add to Selection” buttons in the Options bar when a selection tool is being used. If you make sure the “New Selection” button is selected, it should work fine. Sorry, I’m sure I’m getting some of the terminology wrong, I’m not near Photoshop at the moment.

Nah it didnt work it sounded like a good try though! There was no ‘Add to Selection’ button either. The option to hide a selection is in View>Extra’s (Ctrl+H) but it refuses to work…its a minor annoyance but still…annoying lol thanks

Does ctrl+h hide the other extras, for instance if you have guides turned on will ctrl+h hide them? If not then I would check to see if yo have not changed the shortcut (edit>keyboard shortcuts).

BTW there is an add to selection button at the top of the screen when you have the selection tool active it appears, along with new, subtract, and intersect buttons.
But the button is not your problem.
