Photoshop CC vs After Effects for video and animation

I have not upgraded to Photoshop CC (still on CS4), but I do have AE CS6. I was thinking of joining the CC for PS after I saw this tutorial video on Lynda.com - Creative Video Compositing with Photoshop with Seán Duggan. To me it seems it can be done in AE as well so then I wouldn’t need to upgrade to PS CC. I’m just looking for opinions seeing as, to me, PS is becoming more like AE.
