Here’s the latest hair test I did this morning…

It’s getting there I’d say

The color is still temporary as there’s just one plain color to the hair…

hope you like…

I dont know what to say loocas, I’m sure that you are very good modeler and texturer. I mean topology and UVs are perfect. But i still can smelt CG on all of your renderings. It is definitely not photoreal so maybe you shoud be more careful with using the word “photoreal”. Don’t take this as offense it is just my opinion. I appreciate that you are doing great DVDs for beginers but maybe little bit more humbleness. I wish you good luck with DVDs.

#84

Whats kinda material are you using for the skin? And I also theink the skin has way too much oilyness too it.

#85

I think you need little pratice before make DVD for sale ,im talking about
modeling human head. Obsolutly unprofessional build!
Ears,Nose,Mouth (corners and shape) Eylashes.
Your modeling skills on Hobbyst level…
Sorry that my Crits!

#86

Hey man  howdy? Don’t worry, no offence taken, I know of the issues and I’m working on them

  • Will take a look at it. The material for the skin atm is a FastSkin SSS for MentalRay in Max8
  • As much as I appretiate any comments on my work, I don’t feel this has anything to do with the actual model, rather with the vision of DVDs, the sales and other things leading to envy? Don’t know, however, if you want to make your point, please, be more specific as this is a “hobbyist” level crits coming from you.

Hum, I got my Duber training DVDs and started watching them and I must say I’m very happy of my purchase (things must be clear, I don’t know Loocas, I’m a customer, just a customer).
I’ve bought a lot of training from various makers, some definitly labeled “pro” and I was disapointed by a lot of them, messy work, incomplete and so on. I definitly think those Duber trainings rank among the best I bought. Maybe the resulting mesh isn’t of a professional level (I’ve seen Julia’s work on SpinQuad and SubdivisionModelling and it’s really good) I’m not qualified to judge, but those dvds are very good learning material for someone who has some subdivision modeling knowledge and want to improve them. Another very interesting thing (what made me buy those dvds in fact) is the fact you have the full process described, from modeling to texturing.
And honestly I doubt the fact, someone with a near professional level will rely on DVD to learn more and reach the professional standards (unless maybe if Syomka start making some training DVDs  ) but will more probably gain knowledge by visiting fora, studying good meshes and of course experimenting.
Just wanted to give my opinion as a satisfied customer.

Thank you very much! Much appretiated!

#89

Purely amazing job.
You spent so much time on this peice.

your skill is truely expressed her. Unbelievably detailed and realistic.
Great job

#90

I’m glad you like her! Thanks a lot, very much appretiated!

At the moment, I’m actually at the stage of rendering all the elements separately and comping it all together, that should explain the lack of updates, because the renders take very long to render, 6hrs to 2days actually (at 3600*2547). Especially if there are any errors, crashes or mistakes, it gets longer and longer :frowning:

Anyways, stay tuned, I’ll post some more wips soon…

Oh, there’s gonna be one change though, I’m not going to go for a full hair-do in the final render because I really wasn’t satisfied with how the hair looked at that resolution at all, therefore I’ll model a full ski-cap for her and fix the comp…

#91

Oks, after some time, here’s an update:

As I said, I’ve changed the headband for the skicap, but I won’t avoid using Hair&Fur, just not for the character herself, will use it for the skicap, if it doesn’t work, I’ll have to loose it completely, since I’m really pissed off by it a bit… don’t ask me why

Oh, btw: this is a very early comp wip, I’m yet to tweak the final colors and add some more elements, tweak certain areas etc… etc…

hope you like, cheers…

#92

Have changed the viewline of the eyes, I thing for the better… I’ve found that by simply rotating the eyes into different viewlines, it changes the feel of the character drastically!

#93

Btw: !!!

Shame on me!

#94

Where are the lower eyelashes?

#95

Still missing

I’ll add them later, have to finish the skicap first…

#96

hi loocas… I’m still watching the progress… ehm I must say that is starts to look more like a 10 years old boy than a girl. I’m sorry just a personal opinion.:arteest:

#97

C’mon man, you’re not being serious, are you? :scream:
