No worries…
The foundation is Dragon ball… and true fans will make a connection, but the final look will have almost no resemblence to the origional characters…

Some of the costumes will remind DBZ hardcore fans that they may be from the same universe or family…

I would not worry, … but it would be fantastic if we could get permission to publish some original DBZ sketches and artwork…

I know the people who work for VIZ media (they own the U.S. rights to the Dragon Ball manga) and I co-directed a music video years back in the UK where we got the rights to use unaltered DBZ footage from funimation for MTV/Kerrang TV broadcast release… They were very cool and open…

What about getting:

Hellboy2, Golden Compass, Sunshine and Speed racer models/renders… maybe even Transformers 2 stuff further down the line when promos/trailers hit the media? hmmm…

I am gonna attempt to throw up random progress and WIP images, regardless how insignificant.
This way I and respective tex artist can better sort and track all my work between the 4 hero elements Im doing… especially as Trans2 heats up, I find myself too often thinking about mega robot conceptual designs rather than aliens…:slight_smile:

dragon ball z concept, nice! I used to rush home when i was in highschool to catch the dbz episodes on cartoon network. So I’m liking where this already going. U start formulating ideas for materials yet? Never could figure out what kind of material was feezia’s skin, at times he looked he wore a full body rubber suite. Yet when his flesh was exposed it looked like tough muscle fibers wrapped around his arms and body…?

Well done Phillip…some of the shark, jellyfish, horseshoe crab stuff isnt far off…Nice and subtle …(as if its to over the top…we can overlay it on translucent human skin)

girl is no problem…

the pet will be fun has shit…

so can I chalk you up as 2 of 3 in need of Dr. Igor?

Ya that toad mixed with body builders is awesome…Phillip you have the right sense of sex (with the slave girl)…and humor (if you want to go with the pet)…

cant wait to see what you do with it…

although the reference for the slave girl is a bit thin…(I think I need more naked visuals)

flushing out the general bodies of Freezer and Chick (Zarbon/Keira Knightly with more flesh /Anna Paquin/Natalie Portman amalgamation asian mix hotness)…

chicks face will be snazzed up… more pronounced details, hotness, uniqueness and devious expression

Freezer is still very much in the concept phase still in terms of what his surface detail/skin will be, but I have the base shape and proportions i like… will see…

I image he will have harder/bony bodily parts that the skin stretches over thinly and the surface detail and texture difference between them will sell it. (hard parts include chest, shoulder and crown…)

Mini heads-up that I shall soon have the generic base meshes available for both the chick and alien. They will not be the final meshes, but may be useful for tex, shader, light, render testing etc… etc…

Im testing out a new joint pipeline on 2012…

low rez mesh gets all the high frequency detail fromm photos (from texture)

high rez mesh gets the deep sculpt…and the modeler can pick what he wants through masks and bending back the morph target…(and or leave the rest to bump)

(this way it keeps texture and modeler loving friends…LOLZ)

also no rush…still trying to organize with Dr. Igor…and with the new D5 markII (which Im getting)…I can shoot some stuff 2…in the next month or 2 …

pod will be of industrial materials, metals etc, will be tattied up as hes been poding round the universe with it (dents, dirt, scratches etc… I imagine heavy cake/dirt maps…, no organic shizzle…
Only organic thing about it is the shape…

Well done Phillip…If I do my job well I might be able to gain access to the musums for a month…so a I can post pics…and do reshoots if I have to…

i havent checked this post for a bit and i’m glad it’s moving along nicely! c’mon freezer is the one evil characters i prefer in dragonball make him emit that aura of pimal evil!
