Perspective View Distortion

#1

Here is my situation.

I have a character in a scene and everything is fine.

When I bring in the large set that he will be interacting with, my perspective view gets so distorted I can not work with it.

If I were in lightwave and this happened I would change the grid size until everything leveled out, but in Messiah I don’t know how to do that.

Does this make sense to anyone.

If so, how do I fix this?

Here are a couple of screen shots of Before and After bringing in the large object

I keep trying to post a zip of the scene file but the site won’t let me upload it. We’ll just have to use the jpegs for reference. Sorry.

I figured it out finally. I feel like an idiot for not trying this sooner.

Right Click on the magnifying glass and drag down. This corrects the distortion. If you just Left Click the icon it only makes it worse. I was about to switch back to LW because of this so I’m really glad I figure it out.

I guess this will be the shortest thread ever.

congrats on finding that hidden feature lol. you just found out the difference between dollying and zooming, something that i discovered a while ago and bitched about. Id love to be able to customize this behavior and have it dolly with LMB and zoom with RMB since the dolly behavior is industry standard and is the expected behavior

Is it in the manual and I just didn’t see it? I just think the whole thing is weird for the program to assume that you want it to look jacked up. It’s kind of a no brainer that you wouldn’t want it to do that.

You could also use the [] keys to alter the grid size (just like in Lightwave)

Very helpful. Thanks
