I’m a bit embarrassed to ask - but will some kind soul tell me why people are saying that “its like a true matte painting”.

I dont know what the actual difference is between this and a ‘true’ matte - and I really want to know!

The path in this picture reflects the path that I’m currently walking in my life. I can sense the feeling in this picture. The greys make me feel depressed and the little difference in color in the back is the little light in my life. Its crazy how well I connect with this.
