Parts of my Surface is cut out

#1

Hi,

So I’ve got problem in Layout. I’ve applied an image to the surface of this object (with the proper polygons selected and named in Modeler), but for some reason a segment of the surface is cut out when I render!

I’ve tried applying different images to the surface, and all of them have this specific section cut out. It shows up in the Layout interface, so I don’t think it’s a polygon-naming issue. But I honestly don’t know. Maybe a Render-Globals Settings problem? (I’ve got the Recursion Limit set to 12, and antialiasing filter on PLD 1-Pass)

If you can help me out, I’ll appreciate it!

Thanks,

First of all, your monitor is ginormous and I’m jellous. Secondly, try using a cylindrical UV map instead of a planar one. You may have to play with the rotation of the map to get your logo positioned perfectly, but it should work. If you don’t like that, just unwrap it the old fashioned way. Man-handling always works. Regardless, make sure you’re looking at your UV view to see how your texture map is fitting in your UV space.

I have noticed with Lightwave that if you have an unwrap and you dont have all the connected vertices of the mesh on that uv map then sometimes i get an issue like this (Particually with sub d surfaces).

I would unwrap ur label then dump the rest of the vertices on that mesh on an unused area of the uv map (Just stash it in the corner somewhere) then at least all vertices are on the unwrap and the render wont mess up.

Could sort this :wip:

Thank you Dustin! I was on planar surfacing and not cylindrical surfacing, like you suggested.

My monitor is at work (i wish i had this baby at home), and yeaa i’m jealous of it aswell.
