Hi Lemog, haven’t been here for some time… My PC crahsed, but new one is coming… Nice to see progress! Great as always!
PARIS WORLD'S FAIR 1900 - 3d Reconstruction Project
Thanks Danny…
the goal is to finish the last details for the end of february… and start to work on the the film in march… just hope to have time to write the scenario (with a museum director)
fast yes… but you don’t have any deadline… it’s a good training ![]()
sad to hear about the PC… too old ?
well… if the new one is on the road… that’s a good news… seeya Mate.

Even if that doesn’t work much with the challenge uploader, I can post where I ma in the Vieux Paris…
…good news, even if that make me a strange feeling… the modeling is now finished…
only for the buildings of course…
…it remain some other details I must do anyway,
as :
- footbridge,
- base on pilotis,
- fly-boat stations,
- if I have time, the restaurant at the other footbridge side,
- the little details forgotten…
but now… I must do the texturing of the last part… since the Palais to the exit…
While waiting to see all together textured, the last renders of the last modeled parts…

So the modeling for the buildings is finished for this part!? congratulations, why is it a strange feeling…as you’ve said there’s much left to model:scream:
I’m looking forward to see all the parts together with texture, it looks like you have no real delay here with your timeplan, in spite of the extra work for the challenge…impressive:wise:
Wish you a nice weekend!
-sabrina
yep… and difficult to planed exactly the remaining work…
Here’s the restaurant “bouillon Duval” and the footbridge :

In fact, I think to have only 1 week of delay… it’s acceptable for the moment
Have a nice week end Sabie :wavey:
The goal is to finish all the texturing this week, to be able to start an another project next week…
Here’s the first textures… the Palais de la Cité :

the textures look real good dude .I like the way your bricks look nice and random how are you doing it ? one big texture map for each building hand made maybe ?
all the best
whats your next project going to be ?
With the size of this project, I try to have the only minimal number of large specific textures… for the major part, I use tiled textures of my website in 1024x1024… eventualy mixed and photoshoped… nothing more… it’s more light to manage in the file, as now there’s hundreds buildings… to other choice if I want to keep a file easily renderable…
and sincerly in this case, it’s certainly due to the camera angle, but the textures are not really random… even if the result is acceptable !
about the next project, it’s always in the same topic, French World’s fair… just a little film to do between the expo 1900 project…
I will post soon some reference pictures
Here’s the next project, the “Palais de l’Industrie” of the 1855 world’s fair in Paris…

This palace was destructed just before the Expo 1900… at it place was built the Grand Palais which exists again today…

I can’t believe you keep going with this project while at the same time pumping out all the Steampunk stuff! :buttrock::applause:
You know, at this point of the challenge, I’ve almost stopped all… actually PC in rendering… I just hope that will be okay when finished, and especially to find time to do the final scene (not started), to do the compositing… to add music and sounds… that seem hard now… I’m not sure to be able to finish…
…but I have a timing with the exposition projects… it’s the most important, even if that worry me to have done much things on the challenge… I will see…
Thanks for the comment Magda…
yep… the last textures… the Vieux Paris is now done…
but just remain me around 1 month for accessories
But I stop the Vieux Paris now to start the other project…
While waiting… here’s the last shots of end…

Of course, I will do other renderings of the global Vieux Paris soon…
Wow and wow and WOW! What a huge undertaking and gorgeous models. I also love this time period. This is very inspiring, so thank you for sharing your progress.
Thanks James… glad you appreciate this project… keep plugged here mate… it’s far to be finished  hahaha
Well… some latest shots with now… all pieces together ![]()
Let me show you all the 260 meters of the Vieux Paris… 6000 square meters on pilotis !
Even if it remain much work for finish this part, I think it’s anyway an important step !
