Hard to believe you are still going strong on this project…I got to thinking that maybe someone would be able to 3d print the whole project when it’s done and put it on permanent display somewhere. It seems a crime to leave it in a digital archive.
PARIS WORLD'S FAIR 1900 - 3d Reconstruction Project
I must admit Lemog that this is one of its kind! You keep getting better and better!
What kind of computer do you use and what is the rendering time?
Thanks a lot ![]()
I’ve already imagine to one day realize some modeles about these buildings… my only problem is always the same, the lack of time.
But one thing is sure, there’s another things soon than the virtual realization… as expositions, films and books… during many years of course.
Front of all the work remaining, I’m just a bit afraid to lose a little of my motivation… I will see then.
Thanks for your comment.
For modeling and texturing, I use a laptop alienware, athlon 64x2 dual core…
and for renderings, video and animation, I’ve recently built a QuadCore with 4go ram, and XP64…
the rendering time for these posters of the vieux paris is around 20-30 minutes in 2000x2700 pixels (mental ray)
The challenge is startted… but that continue here too…
Here’s the Foire Saint-Laurent shops textured…
I hope to finish all textures of this part next week… but also start the modeling of the last part !!

Quick passage here for update… it’s the rear part of the Pont-au-Change… the face visible from the exterior of the fair, in the Paris Street…
with the street of the “Foire Saint-Laurent”, with the shops :

again few evening and this part will be finished… I hope for the end of the week… even if it’s hard to manage that with the new challenge… hahaha… I am mad ?
hahaha… no visit here since the challenge is started…
hahahaha… it’s normal I thing…
Then, maybe I could continue the Vieux Paris construction UNDER the challenge… and integrate some parts inside :surprised mmmmh… why not…
i will talk more soon, on the other thread… :wise:
While waiting… I continue to texture the Pont-au-Change… :banghead: a bit slowly !

Hi Lemog… I follow this topic dont worry
It looks great as always… I love to see how you manage to work on both projects…it’s slower but that’s not important… quality is
It’s very kind of you but no probs… it’s understandable of course…
[QUOTE=maksy…it’s slower but that’s not important… [/QUOTE]
yep… and that make me afraid ! I hope to doesn’t be obliged to stop the challenge before the end… I will see…
Thanks to take a little tour here Mate
awesome work! I’ll try to work my way to your skill level, your an inspiration, man!
Glad you like Krzysztof ![]()
Waouw… thanks, it’s really an honor to be an inspiration source of course… I wish you all the best…
Hey Andrea, as you can see… this project is not again finished
haha

Update very soon… I’m always very late ! sorry…
Now… the other side of the street… Pont-au-Change :

++ et félicitations à toi également ![]()
Hola Lemog, WOW WOW that texturing it’s soooo great man, really really great work, I love the colors on all the thing pretty harmonic.
Thanks a lot Carlos ![]()
now, it’s update time… the last textures fort this part “Châtelet - Pont-au-Change”…

I hope to start soon the next part of the Palais… I will post soon some references…
Great as used. Just a little question, did your color have to be so contrasted I mean the red and green part looks too present and it remove a little bit the “realism”.
Anyway congrats for your amazing work !
Cu,
Jeff
Hello Jeff… in fact, it appear that the medieval was very colored… more than I do… and especially worste ! Medieval period was very fun for the eyes, and certainly far of our taste.
But in this case, you must considere I work to rebuilt the Vieux Paris made by Albert Robida (Architect. M. Bénouville) and I must be near of his realization.
For that, I’m always in contact with specialist of Robida (as the Association of Robida, the Vivenel Muséum of Compiègne, …) and some specialists of the historical vieux Paris.
Even if Robida is less knowed actually than someone as Viollet-le-Duc, it remain anyway a great médiévist !
and at first view, all these people are in accordance with my interpretation… near of the Robida’s work.
Thanks for you comment and your question :wavey:
Now… it’s time to start the 6th part of the Vieux Paris… the last ! that sounds so good for me…
The last part is consitued by the Palace (used as theater during the world’s fair))… Palais de la Cité, the large staircase of the Sainte-Chapelle (le grand degré…), a “Renaissance” part with many buildings… Tour de l’Archevêché, btw…
and finished by a restaurant, l’Auberge des Nations… again in this end, a big lack of documents…
The last section, taked on the footbridge :

The Palais and behind the Tower of Archevêché :

The Grand Degré de la Sainte-Chapelle :

The exit of the Vieux Paris (at right, the Palace of Ground and Sea armies)
