Lemog great to see you again dear friend with this wonderful project still going on! Maybe you can get a guiness record on the longest solo project! MAn trully I wish I had your patience!
PARIS WORLD'S FAIR 1900 - 3d Reconstruction Project
I subscribed to this thread when it wasnt very old at all. To see the work in its current state is a real pleasure. Well done and please keep it up
Hey Lemog, would it be possible for you to repost all the buildings for this project you’ve made so far? Your modeling work is incredible. =)
I just browsed through all 190 pages (lawl) and sadly, most of the attached pics on the older posts are dead now.
seriously you deserve a medal or a statue of yourself outside your home. My reasoning for this is this, i saw you starting this project over two years ago when i first joined CGTalk if i remember right and your work then looked phenomenal, the architecture of old 1900 paris must have been a challenge to recreate. I will be saddened if your acheivements go unrecognized in the world. still though massive props to you seriously good stuff (i’d like to think the buildings have cream filling but i gotta eat yet today).
I hope this work of yours takes you to far away places and makes a dream or three of yours come true.
Hey Sabie… with always much fidelity, even if sometimes I’me very rare… thanks a lot !
Huhu…
A film about the Vieux Paris is programmed for an exhibition at the end of 2009
( and I continue to work on the Nation’s Street film, it must be finished for the beginning of november 2008)
My goal is not not make record… my goal is to finish one day this project… and it’s far to be easy… hahaha
Thanks for your words Mark… that make much pleasure to see people interested by this kind of projet !
Yes, no prob, in the next post…
I’ve made for the first part 23 pavilions, 2 bridges, 2 footbridges, the moving side walk, 1 fly-boat, 1 tug boat, the Monumental Gate of the Fair…
and for the actual second part : many buildings of the Vieux Paris
Sorry for the broken links, I was oblige to change of server many times… and again when I back of holidays 2 weeks ago, when I’ve discovered my to server hacked !
I hope this times all will be okay for long time… I prefer to work on the project than redo my websites all 6 months…
Merci… ça j’en ai pas mal… huhu j’espère surtout que ça va durer !
Waouw… you’re so sympathetic with me and my project… Of course, I hope that could have a good end… but for the moment, I don’t have many good contacts… just 2 exhibitions planed for the end of 2008 at Paris, and an another one at the end of 2009, in a museum near north of Paris. Thats’ all for the moment. Few months ago, I’ve received a serious proposition of sponsoring about all the project… but in june, they stop thier proposals ! you can imagine I ws a bit sad.
But I continue anyway, while working only the nights, of course, the project can’t growing very fast… I must be patient… certainly one day… someting good for me will come !
I don’t know exactly for the moment, but maybe I will stop a little after the end of the Vieux Paris, to dedicate one year to build 2 documentaries and 2 books about the 2 first parts already made.
At the beginning, I’ve planed to continue to build more of the fair during the same time I realize books and films… finally, it’s not easy, I don’t have enough time, and I can’t manage alone too many projects.
Thank you all for your interest to this project ! ![]()
Especially for Casey Fulton (Grizvon), all the buildings already made (for the first part)
Each Pavilions individually :
And the 23 pavilions (links to wallpapers below) :

Wallpapers of the 15 pavilions of the Nation’s Street and the 8 other in the second ligne (Quai d’Orsay)
And the Panorama :
Hello Laurent !
Impressionnant la somme de travail
Toujours un plaisir de feuilleter ce post !
Now… the little chapell textured :

Soon, I will made an another series of poster around the Eglise Saint-Julien des Ménestriers
(the chapell)
Héhé… cool de te voir là Cédric… perso, j’ai un peu de mal à être aussi présent que dans le temps  hahaha
J’espère que tout roule pour toi… ++
Now, some references about the next step,
Les Grandes Halles et le Pilori de Saint-Germain
( Large Markets and the Pilori of Saint-Germain ? )

And the only one good photo I have about the staircases, stores and pilori :

The pilori is visible at the right of the photo, a bit under the trees
Holla!
Laurent
For information, a little map :
In yellow, it’s what is done in the Old Paris…
-
Green, the actual step, pilori (orange), staircases, littles stores, …
-
appel green, the market… wich was the Grand Theater of the expo… I’ve planed for this one to do the inner part, if I could find enough documentation…

First timid polygons for the next step…
I know, there’s many difference sbetween the plan and the photos… not easy to take the good choice.
The drawing on the plan is similar to the colored postcards, but photos are different than these postcards… then :

Fantastic work mate.
The size of this project would intimidate just about everyone, but you manage to pull it off with the highest grade.
Most impressive indeed.
Haha, I don’t think you’re intimidate with that sort of project man… I saw your galleries, and of course your actual Sacré Coeur project… it’s really impressive ! with top notch renders… to class
Well now, a little update… this part is a bit long to do, especially due to the lack of references, I’m obliged to try to imagine certains parts as their conceptors… between the imagination of Robida (the conceptor of the Vieux Paris), and Mister Benouville, the serious architect, of course less funny than the first.
As you can see, the part at right seem a bit strange, but the staircase doesn’t have it final state… I’ll finish it when the Pilori will be finish, and in it’s good place.

Even if I don’t have much time actually, I will try anyway to finish the modeling of this step for next monday.
I’m a bit obliged because I must prepare next week the introductive sequence for the Nation’s Street film… wich start with the Monumental Gate.
I will try to post some shots of the film process next week so.
