Paint single instances without size variation?!

Hey there,

I’m sortoff new to vue, it has been laying around the business here, but we never really had a job it was perfect for, untill now…

We have to make an animation of an art piece which uses 600 trees lined up next to a railway track.
Anyway, the trees have to be placed at exact places, so I have to place them all by hand…
The first thing I tried after creating my tree, was to duplicate the trees, and put them all in place, already noticing that the scene was getting real heavy… After finishing I tried to render, but it was gonna take like a century on our fastest workstation, so I had to try something else…
I created an ecosystem, and painted single instances… At first this seemed perfect I could place all the instances, and the scene would still be renderable… the only thing now is… For some reason if I paint single instances, the sizes will still vary too much, I set the size in the painter to 1, but it still gives me different sizes, some really rediculously small and big trees. Plus it seems like the “Scaling & Orientation” tab in the Advanced Material Editor only applies to populating, and not to painting.

Does any1 have an idea, it seems to me that this should be possible, so maybe I am overlooking something that is actually at hand. I’ve read the manual but couldn’t find it, and I found a closed topic here about a similar problem, but that didn’t help me yet…

thanks…
