This is my first matte painting. I hope you like it.

hi George welcome to the forums, to be your first matte painting it is pretty cool,. you have a good sens of color , and the concept is great, the composition need a little bit more work, the castle is the main focus but the eagles are stealing credit, are the eagles giant?if not they need to integrate in the atmosphere and some motion blur on the would help, the water is too bright, and you need shadows over the clouds, from the mountain and castle, the colors are cool and some god rays could help this look more epic
looking forward to see this

Thanks. Yes - the eagles are giant. Here’s a close up:

The idea is to have the eagles fight with the castle. Maybe I need to add a bit more actions? And I’ll work more on the light and shadows. You’re right about the water now that I look at it - it’s way too bright…Thanks again.

this is almost word for word the same crit you gave for the other eagle and castle pic :wink:

tho they are similar :slight_smile:

lol, i just saw that other piece - first matte painting also, hills, castle and eagle…a twilight moment for sure :slight_smile: he he

Hmmm yes there does seem to be rather a lot of castle on cliff mattes on here at the moment…

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, its just a strange coincidence :slight_smile:

Perhaps to make the eagles look more believable, they could be covered by the same distance fog as the building, to make them look like they’re next to each other. With the eagles as saturated as they are, they appear to be in the foreground. Looks really nice, keep up the good work.
