This is probably quite off-topic, but I think it could be interesting for those of you who do graphics programming: Sony Pictures Imageworks, which has been releasing a bit of their internal software as open source, has just released what they call Open Shading Language. It pretends to be a more modern and flexible shader language that assumes the rendering engine it addresses is able to do RT, GI, use physical units values and so.
