I’ll be honest, I would rather go Linux. I just trying to avoid another box, but I am reconsidering.
I talked to the Geek Squad at Best by and he said could build one for only 1,500 to 1,600. and max it out. Maya or a Mac wouldn’t cost more than that.

At some point I would like to by a render farm or a stack but I would like to put it in the closet, close the door and never see it again. Only send file back and forth to it.

I’m going to install the drive and format it to PC and see where I go from there. It’s not so bad, worst thing that can happen is I have to reformat the new drive if it doesn’t take. That’s not bad at all. Thanks for all your help and everyone’s input.

Googling a bit one gets recipes for installing Linux distributions on Macs. Perhaps you could investigate that route, too.

I talked to the guys at Best Buy, this is just an upgrade, you have to have a working version of Vista for this to take.

Just want to give a kudos to the young guy at Best Buy yesterday. He really bent over backwards to help me.
