Ornithocheirus, Leonardo Padua (3D)

#1

Title: Ornithocheirus
Name: Leonardo Padua
Country: Argentina
Software: 3ds max, BodyPaint, Photoshop, Silo, VRay, ZBrush

Client: Mudbrick Media (USA)

This is the “studio” render of the Ornithocheirus, part of a series of dinosaur models I’m rendering.

This model was done in Zbrush 2 + Bodypaint for textures, some time ago, recently I had the time to render it with Vray, using Photoshop to composite the multiple passes.

The entire Ornithocheirus was modeled and have been rigged in Maya with flying and walking rigs.

Comments are welcome and will be kindly taken in consideration for the next works. Thank you all.

It’s very nice Leonardo. Very convincing texture and lighting. -I could have sworn I’ve seen this particular species in a ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ series on Discovery Channel… not sure but I remember something about when these creatures are ready to mate, the beak features that are curved )semi-circular) become flushed with color- oh I see, you do have a lot of color in it already… Great job. Look forward to more.

ahmedmax, Eloosive:

Thank for the kind words, this gives me the drive to do more. As Eloosive spoted, yes, the Ornithocheirus has been features in BBC’s documentaries.

I have rendered another view, but was not accept to be shown on the Showcase gallery, due to the fact that I submitted both almost together. It can be seen on my CGPortfolio.

I’m glad you both liked it. Im looking forward to more comments.

Best regards.
