Orig posted by Xillion: Should I use a big brush ? or a textured brush ? or the plain old hard round ?

Any brush you want! :) Check out Amerasu's Tutorial, it's really great (link earlier in this thread). I use a soft round airbrush, but lots of people like the sharper/harder brush settings ~ whatever you feel most comfortable with is best, but I like the soft brushes due to the ability to really nicely blend strokes. :)

Orig posted by David René: SaraD and Lemog:

too bad... I have really been enjoy the both of you guys paintings in past workshops.. but its understandable, I'm finding it harder to squeeze the workshops in lately too.
Hopefully these two guys will be back at least for commenting! :bounce:And maybe later participation...:D

Rebeccak:
its always fun to watch you paintings progress and not only because you post a LOT of wips but also the way it seems to focus in like if your adjust the focal plane of your camera… its kinda cool, and quite skillfully done.

Thanks very much! :) I appreciate your comments. :)

So when are you gonna tell us more about this new workshop/course your doing?

Very soon, thank you for asking! :)

Orig posted by Mr. Mu: my daughter(4) when watching your wip while I scrolled through the thread: “that is totally supey…”

it loses in the translation, I guess... but feel flattered.
That's so cool, Mr. Mu! Thanks for telling me that! I feel *supey* inside...:scream:

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s work when I get home!

 Cheers, :)

I found out how to set the framerate… I updated the procedure given on the previous message and updated the gif with a slower version.

#44

Xillion,

Sweet, thanks for the graphics tips! Any more you’ve got, bring 'em on! :bounce:

Cheers,

I started some blending. I’m doing the blend without looking at the actual reference right now…so forgive me if something goes off…there also are some greys left out from previous background. I think I’ll take care of them later.

#46

I found some time, and this is a perfect way to spend it :stuck_out_tongue:

It´s a bit of an odd backgroundcolor on this one, I know, but I do actually have a scene for this one  so I´m going for that colorscheme from the beginning.

#47

Yeah, SaraD! :bounce:

Looking forward to checkin’ out your work.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#48

Cool SaraD. Ah ok you did a mirror image of the reference? very cool. did you choose to do that for a specific reason? Was it easier to draw the gesture that way? Or did you just do cause you like the composition better that way? Just curious.

#49

Vidar3d, I´m gonna try to paint an enviroment to this one, and since I don´t want her to point us “out” of the painting, I mirrored her. I think that was the reason

#50

SaraD: this is beautiful!
ps.: a question: What is the full size resolution of the image you are working on?

#51

Hi Rebecca and everyone
Going in a different direction for these figures
Trying to get a handle on these fancy water color brushes in Painter 9
Used water color fine palette knife for this one.
Just trying out something new and different.
Experimenting agian.

Gah!:argh: Im such a slow poke! I feel so silly posting this but here is my quick sketch. I mainly see problems in the torso but please point out any of the other mistakes.

#53

Well, guys…

A small update from me…

#55

4200x3000 px at 300 dpi.

#56

Beckie -> little but very promising

Sara -> few months ago, beckie give me the council to work with that kind of big resolution… and effectively, that change all… better way to detailed… it’s also the reason I really appreciate your very precise work :applause:

Glenn -> Much originality with this piece… I have always much pleasure to see your tests of style, very interesting and inspiring… :bounce:

Xillion -> I like the shape you give to your model, really different but so good…

#57

Lemog: thanks, I’ll try to get back on track (reach likeness) after I finish the first blending pass, I’ll pick up the reference again at that time. I don’t plan to develop her face (I always and quite only paint faces in traditional media) so I’ll just stick with her body.

The real problem with my drawings/paintings is that I get bored very soon. So I need to learn a fast/realistic tecnique or just learn to have patience…this workshop is shelping me a lot to focused!

SaraD: thanks for the previous answer and…another question: do you start with print size resolution or start small and then upres ?

#58

I start at highres, between 200-300 dpi. I might crop or expand the canvas, but use the same resolution through the whole process.

#59

many thanks, looking forward your next update! :arteest: (sorry for the icon, but I thought ti was cool! )

#60

I know well this problem… oddly… I can work for a long time on a 3d creation… but not in 2d…
