Radical_Seifer,

Hey there, this is looking good, but I still think it has a bit to go before being considered ‘finished’. The main thing that you might refine are the edges ~ the black of the background is jaggy and not meeting the edges of the figure. Don’t go for speed on this, slow down, really look at the overall piece, and evaluate the areas that need to be fixed. Mainly I think cleaning of the edges and really getting a nice contrast between soft and slightly harder edges will do the trick. A small detail is the right big toe, which looks a bit cut off / crushed.

Looking forward to seeing your update!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

This is the wrong one. I uploaded the wrong picture. Ill get the new on up asap with a few tweaks. Quick question though, What would you say is the best way to clean up soft, undefined edges? Just got over them in the eraser? Thanks for the input!

#554

Well - this is how far I will take him

#555

Radical_Seifer,

No worries! Just relink your piece when you can.

SaraD,

The pelt is stunning! :applause: Only real crit is that the ground, by comparison, looks relatively plain. Perhaps a quick texture thrown overtop could break it up a bit? Up to you.

At any rate, would love to see an 800 pixel and hi res version linked here so that your piece might be added to the SPOTLIGHT thread.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

I know about the ground, and I started to put some texture on it - and felt I couldn´t be bothered anymore  I´m soo tired of him now… maybe I´ll fix it before I send a high-res.
And - I´m waiting for you Bashi…

#557

Couldn´t leave it. A little more texture on the ground… Better? Enough?

#558

this time I frantically worked at several places of the canvas.

I will be in denmark (holiday) from 28th of June so no updates for two weeks (or I finish it before…hahaahha!)

Greetings all!

I just though I’d share this article I’ve posted on my blog… the complete step-by-step for my contribution to OFDW17!

http://www.botched.com/index.php/blog/discourse/ofdw17_step_by_step/

Thanks!

#560

Hi botched,

wonderful step-by-step: bookmarked for sure!

whenever I look at the following area of the painting I feel sick. I can see nothing there. It’s just as if he had tested a little bit of abstract art in a hidden area of his canvas…

:banghead:

increasing values thus creating some highlights where the value relationship was accurate already.

#561

botched,

That is a fantastic Tutorial, thanks for that!

Mu,

This is looking stronger and stronger, keep up the great work!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#562

thanks Rebecca for still replying…

been playing with a brightness/contrast adjustment layer and worked on the abstract bunch of spots in the lower right corner as well as on a few other things

#563

Botched, Thanks for the tut really interesting.

Mu, Your painting is looking pretty good, the additional contrast that you are applying is really taking it to other level, great work there, sometimes you must to forgett your logic and not to paint clothes or object but shapes and lines, I think, great work overall, can wait to see it finished.

#564

thanks Enrique!

I dont know if I will post an update tomorrow because I will watch Brasil vs Ghana in the stadium tomorrow and the next day I leave for a little holiday and will be back one day before the final…

…so next update on this could very well be after the WC.

#565

posted in the wrong thread

#566

toned down the contrast a bit, because it was a tad too much in the previous wip.

worked on the incomprehensible sack/bag/rag thingy…and the hands, and the hood. And the wall.

will it ever end?

#567

opened it today, refined it a little more and suddenly realised that it’s done…

FINAL:

clicking the image will open a hires version in work resolution…
