Nice stuff everyone, keep it coming!

Quick update from me:

#82

FateBringer, Your attention in the detail is great, also you are doing all of them on paper, without zoom tool and undo :stuck_out_tongue:

Intervain, The face is just awesome!, for real, the face looks great

Rebecca: Becca when you paint it always looks like is coming from the darkness to me :P, i mean the deepness is very cool

Here is a little update for me, hope you like it

#83

ok here I am. Have chaosen Gio’s minion sculpture (ehi Gio hows going there? ).
Taken some basic measurements but no grid so not quite sure about the proportions. I am also sorry for the quality of this pic i dont have here a scanner so its a phone cam pic…i will do better when i get back to wellys home next week. Its pencil on A4 paper.

cheers,
Marco
PS: so far i am already seeing great stuff there. good work everyone

Ok, so here’s where I’m at so far. I cleaned up the line work on the initial sketch and began dropping in some soft values over the image. Im just roughing out things at the moment to get my general shapes down. Its been a while since Ive worked with graphite so its definitely a test of my patience but Im having fun with it. I’ll be taking a break from it for a few days so I can catch up with other projects.

digi: you are right … i think. plus the hand was too thin
any more crits folks?

mu: you traitor why dont you crit?

btw sorry for my phone cam quality  it does look better in real life

Hi there  Wonderful work here already.

DigitalSol, Animegedon, Iridyse, Rebecca, thank you

MechaHateChimp - you drew the forms so nicely, I like your linework.
DigitalSol - the texture is looking great!
Intervain - excellent start, more please

Here’s my WIP - please don’t mention the low contrast, I’m working from dark to light, meaning the light areas will come later

Magdalena, I’m humbled and honored. The progress is beautiful. I just can’t wait to see more. Bravo!

Blocking in some color…mainly just searching for darks and lights…will refine the colors as I go along…detail comes last…

Thanks for the critiques guys. I guess it does look a bit unstable. I tried doing some corrections to it. I noticed that the distance of the arms to the body seems diff from the original and the neck seem kinda short. I tried to fix the legs but I’m not too sure on how tho. I think I may have made it worse.

Here's my progress:

[left]Made the head bit smaller and the legs just a bit longer here.

Thanks.

DigitalSol: Thanks, Ur painting progressing good :D. tks for the comments. I have adjusted the contast.

razz: Yah, i’m trying a different approach  I’m still a little confusing at this stage~

Intervain: Wo~ Very amazing progress~

Billy_Z: Nice style, it looks fine to me.

Ar… this is my progress for today so far~ Still got lot of thing to be fixed~ Welcome any c&c. I’ll squeeze some of my time tml to fix it~

#94

here’s another one, 2.5 hours of penciling, pure fun!
the cloth is not as easy as it looks, at first I went with the flow but then I realized I should
sketch the folds lines lightly so I’ll know where I am because it got abit confusing at some point Oo

Yay a new OFDW!!!

I can’t wai tto see what comes out of this!

Antropus’s image of the old man and the dying child is one of my favorite works I have ever seen. Ever. And I can’t wait to work from it!

And on that note, can I assume it is okay for us to add color and such to pieces that do not have it in the original render?

oooh I can’t wait!!! I hope I can do this gorgeous piece justice!!!

#97

Warpy - nice progress. I’d say the head seems rather short/small in comparison to the original. Keep it up!

Maidith - thank you  Love your progress already

Glenn - great choice and start

ericyeo - awesome! I love the loose lines - they give it that organic feel the original sculpt has

Kris - AWWW  I’m so glad you approve so far, I was affraid you’d go ā€˜WTH?!’ LOL - thanks :arteest::bounce:

worked on it for 2 more hours today - but honestly I’ve made very little progress… I think I might have chosen the hardest task - all the wrinkles are really daunting!
Still blocking everything in - as you can see from the closeup it’s quite a mess

#98

Intervain - why dont you just block in all the parts and only after that, start with the details? At least that way, even if you quit halfway through the painting prosess, you’ll still have pretty good looking painting… anyway, thats how i do it. hehheh :stuck_out_tongue:
Maidith - looking good
evilmaul - cant wait to see that finished, looking good

i ****ed up the proportions a bit, but oh well…

#99

Of course. The ā€œBargueā€ concept is being used here liberally to mean ā€œmaster copyā€ - feel free to do what you like, so long as you give the original artist credit for your reference.

Btw great works all, hope to see more join in!

#100

Intervain - Awesome job doing it in black in white, looking awesome the smudge tool must be your best friend!!

Dennis-k - For 2 and a half hours that is some great detail I love it!

ericyeo - That is looking great I can’t wait for you to start doing some hard highlights and really cleaning up the fuzzies all around

Billy_Z - Really concentrate on pecs and the shadows, you really want his skin to look tight and flat, he looks ripped but I almost get a feeling of anorexia almost fromt he character.

here is my 10 minute sketch and then another 2 minutes sketch, I love to sketch it gives me a fealing of finality and keeps me from erasing to much that way when I do the finished piece I know the mestakes I made in the pen sketch,
