THANKS…eduart…everything on mine is different than the original,
lighting, color, rag, cloth, concept, mood and especially the hand that is holding the rag…hate that hand in the original, looks too big, and swelled up like it has been stung by a bee or bitten by a snake…I know that was his style, or stylization…works well with his women, but looks like an enlarged womans hand on a man in his painting, to me anyway, so I created my own…:scream: …NOT AFTER AN EXACT COPY…want something that I can feel comfortable signing my own name to…

Thanks Rebecca…took your suggestion, got rid of the yellow on his collar…gave him a clean shirt…:scream:

Now, I am calling this experiment with an Ingress painting…DONE

The wips for this experiment can be seen on my anatomy / sketchbook thread…if anyone is interested in seeing the different ways that I treated and went about painting this painting… was a great and very fun …journy of exploration…learned a whole lot of new things…that’s what counts in the end…to me anyway :scream:

FANTASTIC WORK EVERYONE…REAL PLEASURE SEEING IT ALL…
TAKE CARE
Glenn

eduart really nice job.

thanks everyone for your compliments. I think this is the most time I ever spent on any work. I spent a lot of hours on it. I might try to use a small hard brush set to high opacity in a few places to crisp it up more.

Great looking stuff guys.

Still slogging forth!

Hi there
Great work done and being done here – well done, everyone.

   My final images:

   ****************************

Jan 10th (5 pm!)

     Choice 06:
    Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867)
    Copy after Ingres's 1804 Self-Portrait

   *******************************
              Jan 9th, Tuesday

   Choice 16:
    Friedrich von Amerling (1803-1887)
    Mutter Und Kinden

I'm very pleased to call this done, having made things difficult for myself by working without a proportional sketch to begin with – started too roughly, with just blobs of colour, so it’s not an exact physical copy. To fix some things, I repainted/repositioned her right arm, and reworked the baby, who remains a bit distorted. :)

Magdalena, Edd, Spiritdreamer, Dim
Hey, thanks for your comments  I’m really pleased that Kinder’s off the to-do schedule, now! It was a battle to get it done.

YMS - the Ingres doesn’t show up

Sorry, I just reserved the spot for the Ingres - finishing off and posting today, Jan 10th for me! :)

want something that I can feel comfortable signing my own name to…
Good job with him, Glenn, and well done on making him your own! Have to agree that the hand is a jarring note in the painting.

Hope you get a bit more time, Dim, for your piece.
And, Rebecca, that jewellery and those pearls are stunning!
Edd, your guy, Neptune, is so 3D, well done. Great values.

Lesson learned : Never say done! LOL
Couldn’t resist making the hands bigger to go more with the original painting. Not exactly the same, but close.
Appreciate any opinions on them.

Thanks…
Take care

YMS, that looks fantastic! Lots of amazing entries here.

krispee, thanks!

Finally tackled the lace today:

#535

Well, I guess here’s my final version of Clytemnestra. I wish I could work it a little bit more. Anyway, even I know it isn’t a great copy work, I had learned a lot painting it.

I really want to apologize because of my “no-comments” part on this thread. I get really late to the Workshop, and when I saw so many pages, all filled with wonderful stuff, I didn’t knew where to put a comment. I promise I won’t repeat that on the next one.

Well, here it is:

Choice 04:
Lord Frederick Leighton (1830-1896)
Clytemnestra

C&C are really welcome, so I can take them for my next work.

Congrats to all!

Cheers

Bless

#536

Wow, I didnt had time to post something since xmas. There is so much good work… dont even have time to give critics this time… sorry.
Just want to give a big  to everyone who finished their piece!
Thanks to AztcFireFlower for your crits… sorry im a bit late, Ive made some changes on the eyes and on the jaw… its not that visible, but a least a bit better… I dont have more time to put on this now
Thank Rebeccak for the time extension… without it I would not have been able to finish it!

Here is my last update. Please give me your crits, there is only 1 day left :surprised
I had a texture on top of it to give it the imperfections of the canvas, cracks… etc… tell me if you like that or would prefer without?

Again, nice work everybody!!! This thread rocks!

#537

BapKe, good pencilled Biodinia!

Thanks, krispee and Rebecca.

Finally finished up Ingres and added him to my Kinder post. He was determined to stay older and snarling despite my attempts to soften him and get him younger, so I let him be…

You’ve shown that lace who’s boss, Rebecca, good job!

Bless, she looks great to me. You even put in the fine, soft wrinkles on her brown top!

#538

It’s excellent, Bless. You keep improving with each passing day. Keep it up. We hope to see your next work soon.

#539

Won´t have the time to finish either of my paintings unfortunatelly before deadline :frowning: But I´ll try to finish them and put them in my own thread.

Love the work done here!
