Awww thanks Becca and a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well I’m gaining as much as I’m putting in or more by participating in the workshop and the forum in general so it’s more of a pleasure than hard work! :bounce:

Thank you Rebeccak

That certainly was a New Year’s present and a half - 5 extra days to finish!
Having just started the year with a big bang and lots of laughs - it feels great to have a few extra days to get into gear!

Fatebringer - love the hair, you can almost count the strands, that is amazing detail work

Intervain - lovely close-ups showing the detail work! Oh you are a true master of fabrics and bringing out the elegance  keep it up!

Imafo - beautiful work in yours! Looks so much like the original and you’ve really captured her mood, the colours and - such detail!

Glenn - I do like your last version, he’s jumping out much more and you’ve captured that expression very well

Krispee - Nice work! I like the softness in your drawing - gives elegance to her pose  Also her hair… it’s lovely!

Blessing - Nice start there, she’s got a powerful expression which you have captured already  with the extra days you should be able to finish

No time to paint today, but will be back shortly…
take care all and cheers

@Frejasphere: Thank you so much! Fortunately the deadline has been extended (thanks a lot, Beccak!). I hope to get a good work and do justice to Lord Leighton’s masterwork.

@all: The works on this thread are really amazing. Their quality is astounding. You’re a great inspiration for me. Congrats to all!

Mark - she’s indeed looking better and better!

Frejasphere - thanks - you’re too kind!

Started the colouring - obviously with the dress! Couldn’t resist the temptation of pink  got some values a tad off so I’m correcting things that are too bright a little with colour… The flesh’s just a base tone now so do not be surprised at her weird looks  I only did parts of the hands ā€˜properly’…

#451

Hi,

@Rebeccak …it’s a very good idea to postpone the deadline…I’ll have time to finish my ā€œposeidon manā€ : ))

@Intervain …great job…I love the way you handled the dress (all that details drives me crazy)
…the wallpaper (the background pattern) is hand maded?

oh…and you all guys are great…keep the good work!

Edd

#452

hi eduart - thanks  No the pattern was stolen from this website - like I said, I cheated

#453

@Intervain … thanks for the site…the paterns are amazing
and don’t worry…I like how you cheat…you cheat with style and good taste : D

Wow! flying colours to say the least

Mark - She glows!! wonderful job, the way her skin, hair and background all jump out - not to mention that blouse! well done!!

Intervain - mmm nice colouring! going to be a beautiful piece as she already is!

Belianis - you could always try to convince someone  you’re off to a great start with good likeness, so don’t stop

Pushav - I like the ā€œposter-likeā€ style in yours - a bit Tolouse latrec

A quick update - and a dreadful photo - paint is still wet and there are reflections going awol all over the place - sorry  Just thought I’d post it anyway… been working on her hair and background - also adjusting her hairline, unfortunately the colours in pic are darker than real - Oh well that’s enough excuses from me  (note to self: take better pic next time :stuck_out_tongue: )

take care all and cheers

I’m glad this was postponed, I always wanted to participate in these Master studies. Just finished the initial sketch; Here’s the trick I used to nail the proportions; Basically I’ll drag guides on the reference on the ā€˜hotspots’. When I have all the guides in place, I’ll go to ā€˜create a new document on current state’ , located on the HIstory palette. I’ll delete the reference, and fill it with a light grey color, and start sketching. It’s a lot like using a grid but much faster:
