Well, attempting to do some sort of painting.

I’ve been lurking since this thread began - got started on my own study - and finally decided to get brave, join and post what I’ve been up to.

I’ve been so impressed by the work here, the energy that’s gone into the work and the enthusiastic support of fellow posters.

#364

amaryllis - are you kidding me?! It’s awesome, definitely no need to be shy! Keep working on it!

#365

Thanks Mal-1, Vulturius and Intervain for the feedbacks! :scream:

Mal-1 : Very nice start again. I love the look of your canvas… I have not try painter or artrage… I really have to learn these. The “texture” looks very nice and rich.

Vulturius : Good work! Its coming very nicely in the face area!

claybub : Nice to see 3d stuff. Well done!

amaryllis: This is beautiful, I love the face! Keep going!

A little update for me. I only worked on the color layer for the face and the white clothes.
I really have to push myself next time to do the hair  .

Just want to thank everyone for their kind words and report that I have had a Homer Simpson moment…I have lost the Artrage Ingres I was doing “DOH!”, I either didn’t save it properly or I accidently deleted it, I have searched everywhere including my bin but to no avail…so I’m afraid it will remain in that unfinished state!! Oh well!! , I suppose I could always start another!

Some fantastic work revealing itself in here, keep it up guys, this thread rocks!!:buttrock:

Here I go again…
After 003:

Stage 1, 90 minutes work.

MAl-1 So bad that such a nice piece disappeared. It was such a tremendous start. You handle brushwork like an oil painting pro. Nice tiling and color use.
HladekStepan Good start. Good flesh color. As you do head studies you will find it gets easier to place a likeness.
Vulturius Nice job especially in the atttude in her face. Her left eye not looking exactly at viewer, tho. Eye should be looking slightly higher.
Dark3D This Artrage is being put through it’s paces on this forum. Like how you massed in darks in hair in the charcoal textured post.
claybub Nice render and modeling. Am impressed with 3d attempts at master works.
amaryllis Nice values. The draing is very good. I like the texture you’ve created in the folds. Very interesting satiny effect.

calan You’ve done a fine job of capturing the youthfulness of this subject. Something NOT easy to do. And the likeness…i think you pretty much nailed her look. But if you want nit picky, the iris on this side is a little rounder, that is, you see more of the pupil in the original, not as hidden under lid. Small small detail that may make a difference. As for the mouth, that is beautifully done, exactly to me, as the original, however, her jaw is ever so slightly pulled furthur back than you have. SO subtle in angle. But, it’s great to be at a stage that these small refinements are worth your interest to correct. Means you have a refined eye for nuances.
Hair is just shapes that you see when you squint, well depending what kinda effect you’re going for. But I think you’ve the skill to do it justice.
Very nice painting SpiritDreamer, The flesh tone has life. I totally admire the subtle plane changes in the cheeks and face throughout. Iris looks luminous and deep. I think you are going to do great in your figure workshops.
eduart Wow. Excellent job in handling the tones and transitions. SOLID FORM.

vincent1 Nice second stage. Good rendering around the face and shoulders.

Thanks AFF…I come from a traditional background and so tend to use the digital media in that way.

Vincent - Great work, you have captured those delicate skin tones very well.

Zhay - tremendous draughtsmanship.

Eduart - the lighting on this piece is outstanding.

The rest keep up the good work!!
