Open Figure Drawing Workshop - HANDS - 023

#161

nice, RockstarKate…

Quadart, u drew that flipped or did u flip it later? …cool drawings!

Kirt super!

Agnaldo keep on doing that forever that’s the door to the true reality I know what u talking about

jaya6v I think you’ve nailed the hand quite a little bit

Stijn, u have a good hand there buddy

nr43 great one

NoirQ. no it looks really good.

Art2 and Anand  the arm is a little bit bigger in the original…o maybe it’s me that is late I dont know

another study from me:

Anand, if I may ask, sometimes it happens to me that lazy mouse is giving me only really short, point strokes, instead of long, fluid ones, did u also find something like this? (I have the linear stroke type selected…) thx

Thanks. I didn’t realize I forgot to flip Cupid back. I occasionally flip the source file and the art file to get a fresh eye while working so I don’t stray too much from the source image that I’m observing, like using a mirror when working traditionally.

Hi guys, this is my sketch n. five from reference 6
( Thank you Freajesphere and Agostinuke  )

Keep going!

Wooah so many posts since my last one… will try to catch up on the comments… hope it can help, but dont take these too seriously, if you think Im wrong with what I say please do tell me or dont pay attention to it.

Agostinuke - Cool to see some 3d again. Great study.

paintdabs - nice sketches, love to see those “construction” lines

Rebecca - I am currently typing this in a WordPad, will copy on the reply page when I will be finished with it. This will never happen again, Ive learn my lesson :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for the nice words about my gifs again! … so where are your studies, havent seen any since a couple days no?!?

PaulAherne - Nice one. There is just a little something with the small finger… I think compare to the original its just because yours is going a little too far from the rest of the hand. About the colour picker I would also suggest trying not to use it… at first it can be hard but youll get used to it faster than you think. Just try it!

anandpg - loove your sketches and those curvy shadow lines. Simple yet very effective!

Art2 - nice clean outlines… maybe the hand is a little bit too slim or too long. How is it to work with Artrage? I always wanted to try it!

Balduran - Proportions seams ok to me… its just those last 2 fingers who should start before the others I think, they seam to start almost at the same place on yours… I am sorry I do have some problems in english when it comes to express myself appart from usual talk :stuck_out_tongue: Well hope you understand. There is also a good demarcation between the thumb and the hand that is absent on your drawing… adding that would help too!

NoirQ - Looks good! Keep going!

Windroll - Nice studies! Love especially the day 02 and 03

Saphires - Good start! The thumb seams a little twisted or something… but still great start. Love the shading.

Monica - Thats good! Would be great with some shading

ratheesh300 - Wow! very nice… nothing to say

embryotic - I really like this. Love that you did more than just the hand though :stuck_out_tongue:

NR43 - Very good I think!

xstijn - where you see mistakes and things to improve I see still a very nice drawing! Keep going!

jaya6v - Good one… would love to see that hand in a nice pose!

Agnaldo - Oh thats great, lots of different style! Very interesting

bdh-art - simple beautiful hand studies

GreenDuckie - Thats good!

Kirt - Oooh I really love it. Very soft and delicate… beauuutiful!

Quadart - Superb… really like the little kid

RockstarKate - Thats cool, interesting style! 25, you can do it!

ooooh sorry Im gonna have to stop here, otherwise It will take the entire night :stuck_out_tongue:

Want some time left to draw!

My #5 study (which is trully my the #1, had started it at my job first but only finished it today)

Reference # 33 : William Bouguereau (1825-1905)
Petite boudeuse [The little sulk]

Keep studying hands!

#166

Calan: Wow, great job at commenting to everyone. That takes dedication. haah. And thank you very much for the nice comment about my hand.

#167

RockstarKate’s vector gave me inspiration for this one. Done completely with lasso and fill in Photoshop. The head turned out kinda mishapen and odd, but I’m pretty happy with the hand.

#168

Kirt! Wow, that is so cool! I love how it turns out on the bracelet too. Great job!!

#169

i wanted to get in this workshop because hands are the hardest for me for some reason. it helps a great deal to see how everyone goes about their line work. cant help but to stare at alot of these posts!! im going to try and put out 2 by tomorrow…wish me luck, and keep on coming with the art!!
5.
Michelangelo (1475-1564)

Here is a WIP of my #6

Reference #31 (right hand of Christ) : William Bouguereau (1825-1905)
Pietà

My bed is calling me now…

#171

Don’t worry, i have problem expressing myself even in my own language xD

Well, they ARE starting from the same place.
Wait a second… Oh my, they shouldn’t! :surprised Funny, i never really noticed that, thanks!

#172

Digging everyone’s work.

#173

#3 finished. …RUBENS #46
Glenn

#176

Ooh, I’m glad I could inspire you  Very nice work. I use Illustrator constantly and it is a joy to finally use it for something where I can turn Smart Guides OFF! Usually it’s all about perfect alignment. The lasso tool is an interesting way to achieve that look. I like that it leaves you with all corners. I did mine with the pen tool and a little color correction in Photoshop.

#177

Balduran - Glad if I helped

ratheesh300 and LadyPurple - Thanks!!

SpiritDreamer - Great one. Love those brush strokes.

#178

Hi,
nice entries people  here is next 2 from me, this is from Bouguereau Flagellation of Our Lord Christ

Not happy with the final result, 'cause I wanted to make it lighter and much cleaner… Hope next time I will do it better…

#179

Hey everyone, keep it coming. Interesting to see the variety here.

Kirt, that’s a cool experiment, I don’t generally think of Bouguereau in terms of vectors. Finally going to have time later this afternoon for some hands, maybe even more hands tomorrow, woo!

#180

I didn’t either … that’s the work of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres.
